They refused to listen and failed to remember the miracles you performed among them. They became stiff-necked and in their rebellion appointed a leader in order to return to their slavery. But you are a forgiving God, gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love. Therefore you did not desert them,

They refused to listen to you. They forgot the miracles you had done among them. So they became stubborn. When they refused to obey you, they appointed a leader for themselves. They wanted to go back to being slaves in Egypt. But you are a God who forgives. You are gracious. You are tender and kind. You are slow to get angry. You are full of love. So you didn’t desert them.

願邪惡的人停止作惡，不義的人除掉惡念。願他們歸向耶和華，祂必憐憫他們；願他們歸向我們的上帝，祂必仁慈地赦免他們。耶和華說：「我的意念並非你們的意念，我的道路並非你們的道路。正如天高過地，我的道路也高過你們的道路，我的意念也高過你們的意念。

然而，他們很快忘了祂的作為，不願等候祂的引導。

你們要撕心般地悔改，而不是撕裂衣服。歸向你們的上帝耶和華吧，因為祂有恩典和憐憫，不輕易發怒，有無限的慈愛，不忍心降災禍。

祂多次拯救他們，他們卻執意背叛，陷入罪中不能自拔。但祂聽見他們在苦難中呼求時，仍然眷顧他們。祂沒有忘記與他們立的約，因祂偉大無比的愛而憐憫他們。祂使擄掠他們的人憐憫他們。

但上帝充滿憐憫，赦免了他們的罪，沒有毀滅他們。祂多次收住怒氣，沒有完全發出祂的烈怒。

他們藐視那佳美之地，不相信祂的應許。他們在帳篷裡發怨言，不聽從祂的命令。

我們祖先在埃及漠視你行的神蹟，忘記你向他們屢施慈愛，在紅海邊反叛你。

『耶和華不輕易發怒，充滿慈愛；祂赦免罪惡和過犯，但決不免除罪責，必向子孫追討父輩的罪債，直到三四代。』從他們離開埃及直到現在，你一直在饒恕他們，求你以偉大的慈愛再次赦免這些人的罪。」

耶和華為什麼把我們領到這裡來，讓我們死於刀下？我們的妻兒必被擄去。我們還不如返回埃及。」他們彼此議論說：「我們選一位首領帶我們回埃及吧！」

耶和華有憐憫和恩典，不輕易發怒，充滿慈愛。祂不永久責備人，也不永遠懷怒。祂沒有按我們的過犯對待我們，也沒有照我們的罪惡懲罰我們。因為天離地有多高，祂對敬畏祂之人的愛也多大！東離西有多遠，祂叫我們的過犯離我們也多遠！耶和華憐愛敬畏祂的人，如同慈父憐愛自己的兒女。因為祂知道我們的本源，顧念我們不過是塵土。世人的年日如同草芥，如野地茂盛的花，一經風吹，便無影無蹤，永遠消逝。耶和華永永遠遠愛敬畏祂的人，以公義待他們的子子孫孫，就是那些守祂的約、一心遵行祂命令的人。

你並沒有領我們到奶蜜之鄉，也沒有給我們田地和葡萄園作產業，你還想繼續矇騙我們嗎？我們不去！」

有何神明像你一樣赦免罪惡，饒恕你倖存子民的過犯？你不會永遠發怒，因為你樂於施恩。你必再憐憫我們，將我們的罪惡踐踏在腳下，把我們的一切過犯拋進深海。

然而，你赦免我們，所以你當受敬畏。

雖然你們已經知道這些事，並且在所領受的真道上也很堅固，但我還是要常常提醒你們。我覺得應當趁著我還在世的時候提醒你們，激勵你們，因我知道自己離世的日子已經不遠了，正如我們的主耶穌基督指示我的。我要盡力使你們在我離世以後仍然常常記得這些事。

我必住在以色列人當中，不拋棄我的以色列子民。」

耶和華對摩西說：「這些人藐視我要到何時呢？我在他們中間行了這麼多神蹟，他們仍然不相信我。

耶和華有恩典和憐憫，不輕易發怒，充滿慈愛。耶和華善待萬民，憐憫祂所造的萬物。

「可是我們的祖先不聽從他，甚至棄絕他，心裡對埃及戀戀不捨。

你們還不明白嗎？你們不記得那五個餅讓五千人吃飽，又裝滿多少籃子嗎？也不記得那七個餅給四千人吃飽，又裝滿多少筐子嗎？我說你們要提防法利賽人和撒都該人的酵，指的不是餅，你們怎麼不明白呢？」

我們讚美祂奇妙無比的恩典，這恩典是上帝藉著祂的愛子賜給我們的。我們藉著祂愛子的血蒙救贖，過犯得到赦免，這都是出於祂的洪恩。

摩西說：「你們為什麼要違背耶和華的命令？你們不會成功的。

祂曾對摩西說：「我要憐憫誰就憐憫誰，要恩待誰就恩待誰。」

你們必須謹慎，切勿拒絕對你們說話的上帝。因為以色列人違背了在地上警戒他們的人，尚且逃脫不了懲罰，何況我們違背從天上警戒我們的上帝呢？

我呼喚你們，你們卻充耳不聞；我向你們招手，你們卻視若無睹。

願我們的上帝耶和華與我們同在，就像與我們的祖先同在一樣。願祂永遠都不撇下我們，不丟棄我們，
