And he read from it facing the square before the Water Gate from early morning until midday, in the presence of the men and the women and those who could understand. And the ears of all the people were attentive to the Book of the Law.

因此，我們必須更加留心所聽過的事，免得隨流漂去。要知道，那藉著天使所說的話既然是確定的，連一切過犯和悖逆都受到了應得的報應，那麼，如果我們忽視了如此偉大的救恩，又怎麼能逃脫報應呢？這救恩起初由主傳講，後來由那些聽見的人向我們證實。

我們之所以也不住地感謝神，是因為你們接受了從我們所聽的神的話語，沒有把它看做人的話語，而是把它看做神的話語接受了；這確實是神的話語，而且它也正在你們這些信的人裡面做工。

這裡的人比帖撒羅尼迦的人開明。他們滿心樂意地接受這福音，天天查考經文，要看這些事是否如此。

實際上，住在耶路撒冷的人和他們的首領們都不認識這一位，也不明白每逢安息日所誦讀的先知們的話，就把他定罪，從而應驗了這些話。

耶穌來到拿撒勒，就是他長大的地方。在安息日那天，他照自己的習慣進了會堂，站起來要誦讀經文。有人就把先知以賽亞的書遞給他。他展開書卷，找到一處，那裡寫道：「主的靈在我身上，因為他膏立我去向貧窮的人傳福音，他差派我去宣告：被擄的得釋放，瞎眼的得看見，讓受欺壓的得自由，宣告主所悅納的禧年。」然後耶穌把書捲好，還給會堂助理，坐了下來。會堂裡，眾人的眼睛都注視著他。

可是他們不知道怎樣下手，因為民眾都傾心聽他。

誦讀了律法和先知書以後，會堂主管們派人來對他們說：「各位兄弟，如果有什麼鼓勵民眾的話，就請說吧。」

所以，你們要留心怎樣去聽；因為凡是有的，還要賜給他；凡是沒有的，連他自以為有的也將從他那裡被拿走。」

於是他們和保羅定好了日子，就有更多的人來到他的住所。保羅從早到晚對他們講解，為神的國鄭重地做見證，並且引用摩西的律法和先知書上有關耶穌的事來勸導他們。

有一個敬拜神的婦人，名叫莉迪婭，是錫亞蒂拉城賣紫色布的商人。她一直在聽，主開啟她的心竅，使她留心保羅所講的話。

大衛自己稱基督為『主』，基督又怎麼會是大衛的後裔呢？」那一大群人都樂意聽耶穌講說。

因為自古以來，在各城裡都有人宣講摩西，每逢安息日在各會堂裡都有人誦讀他的書。」

當耶穌講完了這些話，眾人都對他的教導驚嘆不已，因為耶穌教導他們，就像有權柄的人，不像他們的經文士們。

保羅再上去，掰餅吃了，又交談了許久，直到天亮才出發。

在一週的頭一天，門徒們聚集掰餅的時候，保羅向他們講論，因第二天就要離開，於是一直講到半夜。
