He read it aloud from daybreak till noon as he faced the square before the Water Gate in the presence of the men, women and others who could understand. And all the people listened attentively to the Book of the Law.

He read the Law to them from sunrise until noon. He did it as he faced the open area in front of the Water Gate. He read it to the men, the women, and the children old enough to understand. And all the people paid careful attention as Ezra was reading the Book of the Law.

And he read from it facing the square before the Water Gate from early morning until midday, in the presence of the men and the women and those who could understand. And the ears of all the people were attentive to the Book of the Law.

He faced the square just inside the Water Gate from early morning until noon and read aloud to everyone who could understand. All the people listened closely to the Book of the Law.

因此，我們必須更加重視所聽的道，以免隨流漂去。既然藉天使傳下來的話正確無誤，凡干犯、違背的人都受到了應有的報應，我們若忽略了這麼大的救恩，怎能逃避懲罰呢？這救恩首先由主親口宣講出來，後來由聽見的人向我們證實了。

我們不住地感謝上帝，因為你們從我們這裡聽了上帝的道後就接受了，確信這不是人的道理，而是上帝的道。這道正在你們信的人心裡發揮作用。

當地的人比帖撒羅尼迦人通情達理，非常樂意接受真道，還天天查考聖經，研究這道是否正確。

可是耶路撒冷的人和他們的官長不知道耶穌是基督，雖然每個安息日都誦讀先知的信息，卻把基督判死罪。這正應驗了先知們的話。

祂來到自己長大的地方拿撒勒，照常在安息日進會堂，並站起來誦讀聖經。有人把以賽亞先知書遞給祂，祂打開書卷，找到這樣一段經文：「主的靈在我身上，因為祂膏立了我，讓我傳福音給貧窮的人，差遣我宣告被擄的人得釋放、瞎眼的人得見光明、受欺壓的人得自由，又宣告上帝悅納人的恩年已經來臨。」耶穌讀完便收好書卷，還給負責的人，然後坐下。會堂裡的人都把目光集中在祂身上。

只是無從下手，因為百姓都十分喜愛聽祂講道。

讀完律法書和先知書後，會堂主管派人告訴他們：「弟兄們，如果你們有什麼勸勉眾人的話，請講。」

因此，你們要留心聽，因為凡有的，還要給他更多；凡沒有的，連他自以為已經擁有的也要被奪去。」

於是，他們和保羅約定了會面的日期。那一天，很多人來到保羅住的地方。從早到晚，保羅向他們傳揚上帝國的道，引用摩西律法和先知書勸他們相信有關耶穌的事。

聽眾中有個賣紫色布匹的婦人名叫呂底亞，是推雅推喇城的人，向來敬拜上帝。上帝開啟她的心，她便留心聽保羅講道。

既然大衛自己稱基督為主，基督又怎能是大衛的後裔呢？」百姓聽得津津有味。

因為自古以來，在各城都有人宣講摩西的律法，每逢安息日，都有人在會堂裡誦讀。」

大家聽完耶穌這番教導，都很驚奇，因為祂教導他們時像位有權柄的人，不像他們的律法教師。

保羅說完就回到樓上，與大家一同掰餅、用餐，又談了很久，直到天亮才離去。

七日的第一日，我們會掰餅，保羅因為次日要離開，就向他們講道，直到深夜。
