The whole company that had returned from exile built temporary shelters and lived in them. From the days of Joshua son of Nun until that day, the Israelites had not celebrated it like this. And their joy was very great.

All the people who had returned from the land of Babylon made booths. They lived in them during the Feast of Booths. They hadn’t celebrated the feast with so much joy for a long time. In fact, they had never celebrated it like that from the days of Joshua, the son of Nun, until that day. So their joy was very great.

And all the assembly of those who had returned from the captivity made booths and lived in the booths, for from the days of Jeshua the son of Nun to that day the people of Israel had not done so. And there was very great rejoicing.

So everyone who had returned from captivity lived in these shelters during the festival, and they were all filled with great joy! The Israelites had not celebrated like this since the days of Joshua son of Nun.

並照摩西的規定，在安息日、朔日和每年特定的三個節期，即除酵節、七七節和住棚節獻上當獻的祭。

那一天，他們在耶和華面前歡歡喜喜地吃喝。他們再次擁立大衛的兒子所羅門做王，在耶和華面前膏立他做首領，又膏立撒督做祭司。

自撒母耳先知以來，在以色列從來沒有守過這樣的逾越節，以色列從沒有君王像約西亞、祭司、利未人、所有在場的猶大人和以色列人，以及耶路撒冷的居民這樣守過逾越節。

在耶路撒冷的以色列人非常喜樂地守除酵節七天。利未人和祭司用響亮的樂器天天頌讚耶和華。希西迦慰勞所有善於事奉耶和華的利未人。於是，眾人歡宴過節七天，又獻上平安祭，稱謝他們祖先的上帝耶和華。全體會眾商議要再守節期七天，於是大家又歡歡喜喜地守節期七天。

他憑信心像異鄉人一樣寄居在上帝應許給他的地方。他住在帳篷裡，與同受一個應許的以撒和雅各一樣。

如果當初約書亞已經讓他們得到了安息，上帝就不必另定一個日子了。

全耶路撒冷都喜氣洋洋，因為自以色列王大衛的兒子所羅門時代以來，耶路撒冷從未有過這樣的盛會。

這些人到死都滿懷信心。他們雖然沒有得到上帝所應許的，卻從遠處望見了，就歡喜快樂，承認自己在世上不過是寄居的異鄉人。

耶和華的僕人摩西死了以後，耶和華對摩西的助手——嫩的兒子約書亞說：
