But the earlier governors— those preceding me— placed a heavy burden on the people and took forty shekels of silver from them in addition to food and wine. Their assistants also lorded it over the people. But out of reverence for God I did not act like that.

Their officials had acted like high and mighty rulers over them. But because of my great respect for God, I didn’t act like that.

我又曰、爾曹所為不善、爾之行事、不當寅畏我之上帝、免我敵諸國之謗乎、

惟寅畏耶和華、仰望其慈惠者、乃其所悅兮、

仁慈誠實、可以贖罪、人之遠惡、在寅畏耶和華、

蓋我以上帝降災為可畏、因上帝之威、不敢有所為、

事之要義、尚其聽之、寅畏上帝、守其誡命、此乃人所當行、蓋人之所為、及諸隱微之事、或善或惡、上帝必鞫之、

偕爾時乏於用、未累一人、自馬其頓來之兄弟、補我所乏、我凡事自守、不至累爾、終必自守、

爾中誰畏耶和華、而聽其僕之聲乎、行於幽暗、不得光明者、宜恃耶和華名、賴其上帝、

爾惟問安於兄弟、有何過人耶、異邦人不亦然乎、

未焚脂、祭司之僕至、謂獻祭者曰、給肉於祭司以炙、彼不取爾烹者、必取生腥、如人曰、必先焚脂、然後任爾所欲取之、彼則曰、非也、今當予我、不然、我強取之、二少者之罪、耶和華視為甚重、蓋輕視耶和華之祭也、○

爾何事不及他會耶、惟我不累爾而已、此不韙請恕我、○

君長若聽誑言、臣僕則盡奸邪、

爾其頌美耶和華、寅畏耶和華、深悅其誡命者、其有福兮、

爾種所生、及葡萄園所產、十取其一、以供其宦豎、與其臣僕、

曰、邑有士師、不畏上帝、不禮世人、其邑有嫠、屢就之曰、有仇我者、祈伸我冤、久而不許、後自思云、我雖不畏上帝、不禮世人、
