自王命我為猶大地之方伯、從亞達薛西王二十年、至三十二年、共十二年、我與同族未食方伯之祿、

Moreover, from the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes, when I was appointed to be their governor in the land of Judah, until his thirty-second year— twelve years— neither I nor my brothers ate the food allotted to the governor.

And that’s not all. I was appointed as governor of Judah in the 20th year that Artaxerxes was king of Persia. I remained in that position until his 32nd year. During those 12 years, I and my relatives didn’t eat the food that was provided for my table.

Moreover, from the time that I was appointed to be their governor in the land of Judah, from the twentieth year to the thirty-second year of Artaxerxes the king, twelve years, neither I nor my brothers ate the food allowance of the governor.

For the entire twelve years that I was governor of Judah— from the twentieth year to the thirty second year of the reign of King Artaxerxes— neither I nor my officials drew on our official food allowance.

Furthermore, from the day King Artaxerxes appointed me to be their governor in the land of Judah— from the twentieth year until his thirty-second year, twelve years— I and my associates never ate from the food allotted to the governor.

Furthermore, since the day that I was appointed to be their governor in the land of Judah, from the twentieth year to the thirty second year of King Artaxerxes, for twelve years, neither I nor my kinsmen have eaten the governor’s food allowance.

Moreover, from the time that I was appointed to be their governor in the land of Judah, from the twentieth year until the thirty-second year of King Artaxerxes, twelve years, neither I nor my brothers ate the governor’s provisions.

Moreover from the time that I was appointed to be their governor in the land of Judah, from the twentieth year even unto the two and thirtieth year of Artaxerxes the king, that is, twelve years, I and my brethren have not eaten the bread of the governor.

Furthermore, from the day King Artaxerxes appointed me to be their governor in the land of Judah— from the twentieth year until his thirty-second year, 12 years— I and my associates never ate from the food allotted to the governor.

Moreover from the time that I was appointed to be their governor in the land of Judah, from the twentieth year even unto the two and thirtieth year of Artaxerxes the king,[ that is], twelve years, I and my brethren have not eaten the bread of the governor.

From the day that I was appointed governor in the land of Judah, that is, from the twentieth year until the thirty-second year of King Artaxerxes– twelve years in all– neither I nor my relatives ate the food allotted to the governor.

Moreover from the time that I was appointed to be their governor in the land of Judah, from the twentieth year even to the thirty- second year of Artaxerxes the king, that is, twelve years, I and my brothers have not eaten the bread of the governor.

這一切事發生的時候、我不在耶路撒冷；因為巴比倫王亞達薛西三十二年我到王那裏去；而在我向王請假的日期終了以後，

也沒有白喫過甚麼人的飯，倒是辛苦勞碌、黑夜白日地作工，免得加重你們任何人的負擔。這不是說我們沒有權利，我們乃是要將自己給你們做榜樣，讓你們效法我們。

亞達薛西王二十年、尼散月、有酒在王面前，我拿起酒來奉給王。我素來在王面前都未曾有過愁容。

難道我們沒有權利靠着福音而喫喝麼？難道我們沒有權利帶着信主的姊妹為妻、出入往來、像其餘的使徒與主的弟兄和磯法一樣麼？抑或是說，惟獨我和巴拿巴沒有權利不作謀生的工麼？誰當兵，自備糧餉呢？誰栽葡萄園，不喫它的果子呢？誰牧養羊羣，不喫羊羣的奶子呢？這些話、我豈是照人的意見說的呢？律法不也是這樣說麼？在摩西的律法上記着說：『牛踹穀時、你別套住牠的嘴。』難道上帝是關心於牛麼？還是特為我們說的呢？的確是為我們而寫的；因為犂田的該存着指望犂；打穀的該存着分享的指望打。我們既把屬靈的種子撒在你們中間，若從你們收成屬肉身的，是大事麼？別人在你們身上尚且分享權利，何況我們呢？然而這權利、我們總沒有用過；我們反倒凡事忍受，免得對基督的福音給予阻礙。豈不知為聖事作工的、喫殿中之物麼？侍候祭壇的、跟祭壇分物麼？主也這樣規定、叫傳布福音的靠着福音而生活。至於我呢、這些個、我全沒享用過。我寫了這些話，並不是要人這樣待我。我寧可死，也不願意人使我的誇耀落了空。

那麼我的賞報是甚麼呢？就是：我傳福音，使福音成為免費可得的，免得我在福音上一味享用我的權利。

你們納貢銀、也是為了這個緣故，因為他們是上帝的差役，時常專務的正是這事。你們向一切人、總要把債還清；該向誰納貢銀，就向誰納貢銀；該向誰上稅，就向誰上稅；該敬畏誰；就敬畏誰；該尊敬誰，就尊敬誰。

如今請王知道：這城如果建造起來，城牆如果築完了，他們就不將貢品賦稅服役獻給王了，終久王就受了虧損。如今呢、我們喫的鹽既是朝廷的鹽，自不該見王白受剝奪，故此我們送上呈文來稟知王，
