Moreover, from the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes, when I was appointed to be their governor in the land of Judah, until his thirty-second year— twelve years— neither I nor my brothers ate the food allotted to the governor.

And that’s not all. I was appointed as governor of Judah in the 20th year that Artaxerxes was king of Persia. I remained in that position until his 32nd year. During those 12 years, I and my relatives didn’t eat the food that was provided for my table.

Moreover, from the time that I was appointed to be their governor in the land of Judah, from the twentieth year to the thirty-second year of Artaxerxes the king, twelve years, neither I nor my brothers ate the food allowance of the governor.

For the entire twelve years that I was governor of Judah— from the twentieth year to the thirty second year of the reign of King Artaxerxes— neither I nor my officials drew on our official food allowance.

Furthermore, from the day King Artaxerxes appointed me to be their governor in the land of Judah— from the twentieth year until his thirty-second year, twelve years— I and my associates never ate from the food allotted to the governor.

Furthermore, since the day that I was appointed to be their governor in the land of Judah, from the twentieth year to the thirty second year of King Artaxerxes, for twelve years, neither I nor my kinsmen have eaten the governor’s food allowance.

From the day that I was appointed governor in the land of Judah, that is, from the twentieth year until the thirty-second year of King Artaxerxes– twelve years in all– neither I nor my relatives ate the food allotted to the governor.

那时我不在耶路撒冷；因为巴比伦王亚达薛西三十二年，我回到王那里。过了多日，我向王告假。

也未尝白吃人的饭，倒是辛苦劳碌，昼夜做工，免得叫你们一人受累。这并不是因我们没有权柄，乃是要给你们作榜样，叫你们效法我们。

亚达薛西王二十年尼散月，在王面前摆酒，我拿起酒来奉给王。我素来在王面前没有愁容。

难道我们没有权柄靠福音吃喝吗？难道我们没有权柄娶信主的姐妹为妻，带着一同往来，仿佛其余的使徒和主的弟兄并矶法一样吗？独有我与巴拿巴没有权柄不做工吗？有谁当兵自备粮饷呢？有谁栽葡萄园不吃园里的果子呢？有谁牧养牛羊不吃牛羊的奶呢？我说这话，岂是照人的意见；律法不也是这样说吗？就如摩西的律法记着说：“牛在场上踹谷的时候，不可笼住它的嘴。”难道神所挂念的是牛吗？不全是为我们说的吗？分明是为我们说的。因为耕种的当存着指望去耕种；打场的也当存得粮的指望去打场。我们若把属灵的种子撒在你们中间，就是从你们收割奉养肉身之物，这还算大事吗？若别人在你们身上有这权柄，何况我们呢？然而，我们没有用过这权柄，倒凡事忍受，免得基督的福音被阻隔。你们岂不知为圣事劳碌的就吃殿中的物吗？伺候祭坛的就分领坛上的物吗？主也是这样命定，叫传福音的靠着福音养生。但这权柄我全没有用过。我写这话，并非要你们这样待我，因为我宁可死也不叫人使我所夸的落了空。

既是这样，我的赏赐是什么呢？就是我传福音的时候叫人不花钱得福音，免得用尽我传福音的权柄。

你们纳粮，也为这个缘故；因他们是神的差役，常常特管这事。凡人所当得的，就给他。当得粮的，给他纳粮；当得税的，给他上税；当惧怕的，惧怕他；当恭敬的，恭敬他。

如今王该知道，他们若建造这城，城墙完毕就不再与王进贡，交课，纳税，终久王必受亏损。我们既食御盐，不忍见王吃亏，因此奏告于王。
