Therefore set I in the lower places behind the wall,[ and] on the higher places, I even set the people after their families with their swords, their spears, and their bows.

Therefore I stationed some of the people behind the lowest points of the wall at the exposed places, posting them by families, with their swords, spears and bows.

And when Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib was come, and that he was purposed to fight against Jerusalem,He took counsel with his princes and his mighty men to stop the waters of the fountains which[ were] without the city: and they did help him.So there was gathered much people together, who stopped all the fountains, and the brook that ran through the midst of the land, saying, Why should the kings of Assyria come, and find much water?Also he strengthened himself, and built up all the wall that was broken, and raised[ it] up to the towers, and another wall without, and repaired Millo[ in] the city of David, and made darts and shields in abundance.And he set captains of war over the people, and gathered them together to him in the street of the gate of the city, and spake comfortably to them, saying,Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that[ is] with him: for[ there be] more with us than with him:With him[ is] an arm of flesh; but with us[ is] the LORD our God to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.

And he lodged there that same night; and took of that which came to his hand a present for Esau his brother;Two hundred she goats, and twenty he goats, two hundred ewes, and twenty rams,Thirty milch camels with their colts, forty kine, and ten bulls, twenty she asses, and ten foals.And he delivered[ them] into the hand of his servants, every drove by themselves; and said unto his servants, Pass over before me, and put a space betwixt drove and drove.And he commanded the foremost, saying, When Esau my brother meeteth thee, and asketh thee, saying, Whose[ art] thou? and whither goest thou? and whose[ are] these before thee?Then thou shalt say,[ They be] thy servant Jacob’s; it[ is] a present sent unto my lord Esau: and, behold, also he[ is] behind us.And so commanded he the second, and the third, and all that followed the droves, saying, On this manner shall ye speak unto Esau, when ye find him.And say ye moreover, Behold, thy servant Jacob[ is] behind us. For he said, I will appease him with the present that goeth before me, and afterward I will see his face; peradventure he will accept of me.

Behold his bed, which[ is] Solomon’s; threescore valiant men[ are] about it, of the valiant of Israel.They all hold swords,[ being] expert in war: every man[ hath] his sword upon his thigh because of fear in the night.
