Therefore I stationed some of the people behind the lowest points of the wall at the exposed places, posting them by families, with their swords, spears and bows.

修造城牆的，扛擡材料的，都一手做工一手拿兵器。修造的人都腰間佩刀修造，吹角的人在我旁邊。

要穿戴神所賜的全副軍裝，就能抵擋魔鬼的詭計。因我們並不是與屬血氣的爭戰，乃是與那些執政的、掌權的、管轄這幽暗世界的，以及天空屬靈氣的惡魔爭戰。所以，要拿起神所賜的全副軍裝，好在磨難的日子抵擋仇敵，並且成就了一切，還能站立得住。所以要站穩了，用真理當作帶子束腰，用公義當作護心鏡遮胸，又用平安的福音當作預備走路的鞋穿在腳上。此外，又拿着信德當作盾牌，可以滅盡那惡者一切的火箭；並戴上救恩的頭盔，拿着聖靈的寶劍，就是神的道；靠着聖靈，隨時多方禱告祈求；並要在此警醒不倦，為眾聖徒祈求，也為我祈求，使我得着口才，能以放膽開口講明福音的奧祕，（我為這福音的奧祕作了帶鎖鍊的使者，）並使我照着當盡的本分放膽講論。

施恩與人、借貸與人的，這人事情順利；他被審判的時候要訴明自己的冤。

「我差你們去，如同羊進入狼羣；所以你們要靈巧像蛇，馴良像鴿子。

弟兄們，在心志上不要作小孩子。然而，在惡事上要作嬰孩，在心志上總要作大人。

希西家見西拿基立來，定意要攻打耶路撒冷，就與首領和勇士商議，塞住城外的泉源；他們就都幫助他。於是有許多人聚集，塞了一切泉源，並通流國中的小河，說：「亞述王來，為何讓他得着許多水呢？」希西家力圖自強，就修築所有拆毀的城牆，高與城樓相齊；在城外又築一城，堅固大衛城的米羅，製造了許多軍器、盾牌；設立軍長管理百姓，將他們招聚在城門的寬闊處，用話勉勵他們，說：「你們當剛強壯膽，不要因亞述王和跟隨他的大軍恐懼、驚慌；因為與我們同在的，比與他們同在的更大。與他們同在的是肉臂，與我們同在的是耶和華－我們的神，他必幫助我們，為我們爭戰。」百姓就靠猶大王希西家的話，安然無懼了。

當夜，雅各在那裏住宿，就從他所有的物中拿禮物要送給他哥哥以掃：母山羊二百隻，公山羊二十隻，母綿羊二百隻，公綿羊二十隻，奶崽子的駱駝三十隻－各帶着崽子，母牛四十隻，公牛十隻，母驢二十匹，驢駒十匹；每樣各分一羣，交在僕人手下，就對僕人說：「你們要在我前頭過去，使羣羣相離，有空閒的地方」；又吩咐儘先走的說：「我哥哥以掃遇見你的時候，問你說：『你是哪家的人？要往哪裏去？你前頭這些是誰的？』你就說：『是你僕人雅各的，是送給我主以掃的禮物；他自己也在我們後邊。』」又吩咐第二、第三，和一切趕羣畜的人說：「你們遇見以掃的時候也要這樣對他說；並且你們要說：『你僕人雅各在我們後邊。』」因雅各心裏說：「我藉着在我前頭去的禮物解他的恨，然後再見他的面，或者他容納我。」

看哪，是所羅門的轎；四圍有六十個勇士，都是以色列中的勇士；手都持刀，善於爭戰，腰間佩刀，防備夜間有驚慌。
