Also our enemies said,“ Before they know it or see us, we will be right there among them and will kill them and put an end to the work.”

以色列人設伏於基比亞四周、越至三日、以色列人往攻便雅憫人、列陳於基比亞如前、便雅憫人出而迎戰、被誘離邑、如前擊殺以色列人、約有三十、於二通衢、一往伯特利、一往基比亞之郊野、便雅憫人曰、其敗如故、以色列人曰、我儕其遁、誘之離邑、至於通衢、眾遂起離其所、列陳於巴力他瑪、伏者自基比亞草場而出、有以色列選兵一萬、往攻基比亞、戰勢劇烈、然便雅憫人不知禍之將及、耶和華使便雅憫人敗於以色列人前、是日以色列人殺便雅憫人、二萬五千一百、皆執兵之士、便雅憫人乃自知敗北、初、以色列人恃有伏兵在基比亞、故暫避便雅憫人、伏兵驟出、進攻基比亞、刃擊舉邑之人、以色列人曾約伏兵、以使邑中烟雲上騰為號、以色列人戰時稍卻、便雅憫人殺其人約有三十、自謂以色列人為我所敗、如前戰然、迨邑中烟雲起、其狀如柱、便雅憫人回顧、見舉邑烟焰冲天、以色列人旋轉、便雅憫人見禍及之、不勝駭懼、遂背以色列人、轉向曠野之路而遁、軍士急追於後、民自諸邑而出、戮之於其間、追襲之、圍困之、在其駐足之所蹂躪之、至於相對日出處之基比亞、便雅憫人仆者一萬八千、皆勇士也、其餘轉向曠野而逃、至臨門磐、以色列人又於通衢、收其五千人、追至基頓、又殺二千人、是日便雅憫執兵之士死者、共二萬五千、皆勇士也、惟有六百人、轉向曠野而逃、至臨門磐、居之四月、以色列人反攻便雅憫、刃擊邑眾、與其牲畜、及凡所遇、所至諸邑、以火焚之、

及旦、猶太人結黨誓而自呪曰、不殺保羅、不食不飲、

乘其困憊手弱臨之、使之驚惶、侍從必遁、而我獨擊其王、

蓋爾詳知主之日至、如夜間之盜、

是故禍患必臨爾、不知所由、災難必及爾、無以禳之、殄滅突來、難以逆料、
