The next section was repaired by the men of Tekoa, but their nobles would not put their shoulders to the work under their supervisors.

Some men from Tekoa repaired the next part of the wall. But their nobles refused to do any work at all. They didn’t pay any attention to the people who were in charge of the work.

And next to them the Tekoites repaired, but their nobles would not stoop to serve their Lord.

Next were the people from Tekoa, though their leaders refused to work with the construction supervisors.

Beside them the Tekoites made repairs, but their nobles did not lift a finger to help their supervisors.

Moreover, next to him the Tekoites made repairs, but their nobles did not support the work of their masters.

他派人往提哥亞去，從那裏叫了一個有智慧的婦人來，對她說：「請你裝作居喪的人，穿上喪服，不用膏抹身，裝作為死者悲哀多日的婦人。

「無論哪一邦、哪一國，不肯服事巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒，不把頸項放在他的軛下，我必用刀劍、饑荒、瘟疫懲罰那邦，直到我藉巴比倫王的手毀滅他們。這是耶和華說的。

「耶和華對我如此說：你要為自己做皮帶和木軛，套在你的頸項上，

我說：「這些人實在是貧寒的，他們是愚昧的，因為不知道耶和華的作為，也不知道他們上帝的法則。我要去見尊貴的人，向他們說話，他們應該知道耶和華的作為，知道他們上帝的法則。」然而，這些人卻齊心將軛折斷，掙開繩索。

現在你們為甚麼試探上帝，要把我們祖宗和我們所不能負的軛放在門徒的頸項上呢？

我就照這一切話對猶大王西底家說：「你們要把頸項放在巴比倫王的軛下，服事他和他的百姓，就得存活。

我心裏柔和謙卑，你們當負我的軛，向我學習；這樣，你們的心靈就必得安息。

至於那些今世富足的人，你要囑咐他們不要自高，也不要倚賴靠不住的錢財；要倚靠那厚賜萬物給我們享受的上帝。又要囑咐他們行善，在好事上富足，甘心施捨，樂意分享，

萬軍之耶和華說：「到那日，我必折斷你頸項上仇敵的軛，拉斷你的皮帶。陌生人必不再使他作奴隸。他們卻要事奉耶和華－他們的上帝，事奉我為他們所興起的大衛王。」

弟兄們哪，想一想你們的蒙召，按着人的觀點，有智慧的不多，有能力的不多，有尊貴地位的也不多。

這是猶大王烏西雅在位與約阿施的兒子以色列王耶羅波安在位的時候，大地震前二年，從提哥亞來的牧人阿摩司所見的－他的話論到以色列。

「耶和華的使者說：『要詛咒米羅斯，重重詛咒其中的居民，因為他們不來幫助耶和華，不來幫助耶和華攻擊壯士。』
