The next section was repaired by the men of Tekoa, but their nobles would not put their shoulders to the work under their supervisors.

Some men from Tekoa repaired the next part of the wall. But their nobles refused to do any work at all. They didn’t pay any attention to the people who were in charge of the work.

And next to them the Tekoites repaired, but their nobles would not stoop to serve their Lord.

Next were the people from Tekoa, though their leaders refused to work with the construction supervisors.

Beside them the Tekoites made repairs, but their nobles did not lift a finger to help their supervisors.

“耶和华对我如此说：你要为自己做皮带和木轭，套在你的颈项上，

我说：“这些人实在是贫寒的，他们是愚昧的，因为不知道耶和华的作为，也不知道他们神的法则。我要去见尊贵的人，向他们说话，他们应该知道耶和华的作为，知道他们神的法则。”然而，这些人却齐心将轭折断，挣开绳索。

现在你们为什么试探神，要把我们祖宗和我们所不能负的轭放在门徒的颈项上呢？

我就照这一切话对犹大王西底家说：“你们要把颈项放在巴比伦王的轭下，服事他和他的百姓，就得存活。

我心里柔和谦卑，你们当负我的轭，向我学习；这样，你们的心灵就必得安息。

至于那些今世富足的人，你要嘱咐他们不要自高，也不要倚赖靠不住的钱财；要倚靠那厚赐万物给我们享受的神。又要嘱咐他们行善，在好事上富足，甘心施舍，乐意分享，

万军之耶和华说：“到那日，我必折断你颈项上仇敌的轭，拉断你的皮带。陌生人必不再使他作奴隶。他们却要事奉耶和华—他们的神，事奉我为他们所兴起的大卫王。”

弟兄们哪，想一想你们的蒙召，按着人的观点，有智慧的不多，有能力的不多，有尊贵地位的也不多。

这是犹大王乌西雅在位与约阿施的儿子以色列王耶罗波安在位的时候，大地震前二年，从提哥亚来的牧人阿摩司所见的—他的话论到以色列。
