and replied to the king,“ May the king live forever! Why should I not be sad when the city where my ancestors are buried lies in ruins and its gates have been destroyed by fire?”

我对王说：“愿王万岁！我列祖坟墓所在的那城荒凉，城门被火焚烧，我岂能面无愁容吗？”

对王说：“愿王万岁，我列祖坟墓所在的城成了荒芜之地，城门被火焚毁，我怎能不面带愁容呢？”

我對王說：「願王萬歲！我列祖墳墓所在的那城荒涼，城門被火焚燒，我豈能面無愁容嗎？」

我對王說：「願王萬歲！我祖先墳墓所在的那城荒涼，城門被火焚燒，我豈能面無愁容呢？」

我對王說：「願王萬歲！我祖先墳墓所在的那城荒涼，城門被火焚燒，我豈能面無愁容呢？」

我對王說：「願王萬歲！我祖墳所在的城邑已成廢墟，城門也被燒毀，我怎能不面帶愁容？」

對王說：“願王萬歲，我列祖墳墓所在的城成了荒蕪之地，城門被火焚毀，我怎能不面帶愁容呢？”

我對王說：『願王萬歲！我列祖廬墓所在的京城荒廢，它的城門被火燒燬，我哪能不面帶愁容呢？』

奏王曰、願王萬歲、我之故邑、祖墓所在、歷久荒墟、邑門焚燬、焉得無憂色、

奏王曰、願王千歲、我之故城、先人之兆在焉、迄今土地荒蕪、邑門已燬、焉得不憂。

奏王曰、願王萬歲、我列祖墳墓所在之邑、迄今荒蕪、邑門被燬、臣能面無憂色乎、

but I said to the king,“ May the king live forever! Why should my face not look sad when the city where my ancestors are buried lies in ruins, and its gates have been destroyed by fire?”

But I said to the king,“ May you live forever! Why shouldn’t I look sad? The city where my people of long ago are buried has been destroyed. And fire has burned up its gates.”

I said to the king,“ Let the king live forever! Why should not my face be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers’ graves, lies in ruins, and its gates have been destroyed by fire?”

but I replied,“ Long live the king! How can I not be sad? For the city where my ancestors are buried is in ruins, and the gates have been destroyed by fire.”

And I said to the king,“ May the king live forever. Why should my face not be sad when the city, the site of my fathers’ tombs, is desolate and its gates have been consumed by fire?”

and said to the king,“ May the king live forever! Why should my face not be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers’ tombs, lies waste, and its gates are burned with fire?”

And I said unto the king, Let the king live for ever: why should not my countenance be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers’ sepulchres, lieth waste, and the gates thereof are consumed with fire?

and replied to the king,“ May the king live forever! Why should I not be sad when the city where my ancestors are buried lies in ruins and its gates have been destroyed by fire?”

And said unto the king, Let the king live for ever: why should not my countenance be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers’ sepulchres,[ lieth] waste, and the gates thereof are consumed with fire?

I replied to the king,“ O king, live forever! Why would I not appear dejected when the city with the graves of my ancestors lies desolate and its gates destroyed by fire?”

I said to the king,“ Let the king live forever! Why shouldn’t my face be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers’ tombs, lies waste, and its gates have been consumed with fire?”

They said to me,“ The remnant in the province, who survived the exile, are in great trouble and disgrace. Jerusalem’s wall has been broken down, and its gates have been burned.”

Bathsheba knelt low with her face to the ground, paying homage to the king, and said,“ May my lord King David live forever!”

The Chaldeans spoke to the king( Aramaic begins here):“ May the king live forever. Tell your servants the dream, and we will give the interpretation.”

May my tongue stick to the roof of my mouth if I do not remember you, if I do not exalt Jerusalem as my greatest joy!

Because of the outcry of the king and his nobles, the queen came to the banquet hall.“ May the king live forever,” she said.“ Don’t let your thoughts terrify you or your face be pale.

Hezekiah rested with his ancestors and was buried on the ascent to the tombs of David’s descendants. All Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem paid him honor at his death. His son Manasseh became king in his place.

Ahaz rested with his ancestors and was buried in the city, in Jerusalem, but they did not bring him into the tombs of the kings of Israel. His son Hezekiah became king in his place.

Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he became king; he reigned eight years in Jerusalem. He died to no one’s regret and was buried in the city of David but not in the tombs of the kings.

So the administrators and satraps went together to the king and said to him,“ May King Darius live forever.

Then Daniel spoke with the king:“ May the king live forever.

For your servants take delight in its stones and favor its dust.

They said to King Nebuchadnezzar,“ May the king live forever.

Zion’s gates have fallen to the ground; he has destroyed and shattered the bars on her gates. Her king and her leaders live among the nations, instruction is no more, and even her prophets receive no vision from the LORD.
