But when Sanballat the Horonite, Tobiah the Ammonite official and Geshem the Arab heard about it, they mocked and ridiculed us.“ What is this you are doing?” they asked.“ Are you rebelling against the king?”

But Sanballat, the Horonite, heard about it. So did Tobiah, the official from Ammon. Geshem, the Arab, heard about it too. All of them laughed at us. They made fun of us.“ What do you think you are doing?” they asked.“ Are you turning against the king?”

But when Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the Ammonite servant and Geshem the Arab heard of it, they jeered at us and despised us and said,“ What is this thing that you are doing? Are you rebelling against the king?”

But when Sanballat, Tobiah, and Geshem the Arab heard of our plan, they scoffed contemptuously.“ What are you doing? Are you rebelling against the king?” they asked.

When Sanballat the Horonite, Tobiah the Ammonite official, and Geshem the Arab heard about this, they mocked and despised us, and said,“ What is this you’re doing? Are you rebelling against the king?”

But when Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, and Geshem the Arabian, heard[ it], they laughed us to scorn, and despised us, and said, What[ is] this thing that ye do? will ye rebel against the king?

But when Sanballat the Horonite, Tobiah the Ammonite official, and Geshem the Arab heard all this, they derided us and expressed contempt toward us. They said,“ What is this you are doing? Are you rebelling against the king?”

But when Sanballat the Horonite, Tobiah the Ammonite servant, and Geshem the Arabian, heard it, they ridiculed us, and despised us, and said,“ What is this thing that you are doing? Will you rebel against the king?”

信上寫着說：『外國人中有風聲，迦施慕也說：你和猶大人在圖謀着反叛，才在修造城牆：說你要作他們的王：這種種的話。

你使我們成了我們鄰國所羞辱的，我們被四圍的人所嗤笑所譏刺。你使我們在列國中做了笑談，在萬國之民中做人搖頭的對象。

他們直嗤笑耶穌。耶穌催趕了眾人都出來，就帶着小孩子的父親母親、和跟他同來的人、進了小孩子所在的地方；

參巴拉、多比雅、亞拉伯人基善、和我們其餘的仇敵聽說我已經修造完了城牆，牆上已沒有破口之處（直到那時我卻還未安立門扇在城門上）；參巴拉和基善就打發人來見我說：『你請來，我們在阿挪平原中一個小村子一起相會吧。』其實他們是圖謀要加害於我的。

開始控告他說：『我們查出這個人扭轉我們民族的心，攔阻人納貢銀給該撒，並說自己是上帝所膏立者，是王。』

請王考查王列祖的記錄，在記錄上王就會查出，知道這城是個反叛的城，對列王和各省都有損害；自古以來其中常行悖逆的事，故此這城遭受了荒廢。我們奏王知道：這城如果建造起來，城牆如果築完了，大河以西那邊之地王就無分了。』

又另有人受了戲弄和鞭打、甚至捆鎖和監禁的經驗。

和倫人參巴拉和為奴的亞捫人多比雅聽見了這事，就大大不高興有人來為以色列人謀求福利。

從此彼拉多就想法子要釋放耶穌；無奈猶太人直嚷着說：『你若釋放這個人，就不是「該撒的忠臣」了；凡以自己為王的，就是頂撞着該撒。』

他們都要使我懼怕，意思是說：『他們的手會從這工作上發軟下來，以致工程作不了。』但現在呢、加強我的手吧。

參巴拉聽說是我們在修造城牆，就發怒，大大惱恨，直嗤笑着猶大人。

你使我們做鄰國搖頭的對象；我們的仇敵嗤笑着我們。

因為我每逢講論時，總得哀呼；我喊叫說：『有強暴哦！要毁滅啦！』因為永恆主的話對於我已成了終日不斷的辱罵和譏刺了。

『但如今呢、比我年少的人倒譏笑了我；他們的父親我曾瞧不起，不讓跟我羊羣的狗同列。

我們成了我們鄰國所羞辱的，我們四圍的人所嗤笑而譏刺的。

我們查出這個人簡直是瘟疫，在普天下眾猶太人中攪動亂事，又是拿撒勒派的一個頭目。
