I also told them about the gracious hand of my God on me and what the king had said to me. They replied,“ Let us start rebuilding.” So they began this good work.

I also told them how my gracious God was helping me. And I told them what the king had said to me. They replied,“ Let’s start rebuilding.” So they began that good work.

And I told them of the hand of my God that had been upon me for good, and also of the words that the king had spoken to me. And they said,“ Let us rise up and build.” So they strengthened their hands for the good work.

I told them of the hand of my God which was good on me, as also of the king’s words that he had spoken to me. They said,“ Let’s rise up and build.” So they strengthened their hands for the good work.

For seven days they celebrated with joy the Festival of Unleavened Bread, because the Lord had filled them with joy by changing the attitude of the king of Assyria so that he assisted them in the work on the house of God, the God of Israel.

Now then, be strong and brave, for Saul your master is dead, and the people of Judah have anointed me king over them.”

Then he worked hard repairing all the broken sections of the wall and building towers on it. He built another wall outside that one and reinforced the terraces of the City of David. He also made large numbers of weapons and shields.

for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.

Be strong, and let us fight bravely for our people and the cities of our God. The Lord will do what is good in his sight.”

These were the chiefs of David’s mighty warriors— they, together with all Israel, gave his kingship strong support to extend it over the whole land, as the Lord had promised—
