One of the sons of Joiada son of Eliashib the high priest was son-in-law to Sanballat the Horonite. And I drove him away from me.

One of the sons of Joiada was the son- in- law of Sanballat the Horonite. Joiada, the son of Eliashib, was the high priest. I drove Joiada’s son away from me.

And one of the sons of Jehoiada, the son of Eliashib the high priest, was the son-in-law of Sanballat the Horonite. Therefore I chased him from me.

One of the sons of Joiada son of Eliashib the high priest had married a daughter of Sanballat the Horonite, so I banished him from my presence.

Even one of the sons of Jehoiada, son of the high priest Eliashib, had become a son-in-law to Sanballat the Horonite. So I drove him away from me.

那时，大祭司以利亚实起来，和他一起作祭司的众兄弟都起来，重建了羊门；他们装上门扇，就把它分别为圣，又建造城墙，直到哈米亚城楼和哈楠业城楼，把城分别为圣；

在以利亚实、耶何耶大、约哈难和押杜亚的日子，利未人的族长都登记了，同样，波斯王大利乌在位时的祭司也都登记了。

这事以前，受委派管理我们神殿的库房的以利亚实祭司，与多比雅的关系很密切。他为多比雅预备了一间大房间，那里以前是用来收存素祭、乳香和器皿，还有祭司的举祭，以及按照命令供给利未人、歌唱者和守门的那些五谷、新酒和新油的十分之一。

在这段日子，犹大人的贵族写了许多信给多比雅，多比雅也常常回信给他们。在犹大有许多人与多比雅结盟；因为他是亚拉的儿子、示迦尼的女婿，并且他的儿子约哈难娶了比利迦的儿子米书兰的女儿为妻。不但这样，他们也常常在我面前提起多比雅的善行，又把我说的话传给他；多比雅又常常寄信来恐吓我。

我每日早晨必灭绝国中所有的恶人，好把所有作孽的人都从耶和华的城里剪除。

智慧的王簸散恶人，并用车轮碾他们。

执政的不是要使行善的惧怕，而是要使作恶的惧怕。你想不怕掌权的吗？只要行善，就会得到称赞；因为他是神的仆役，是对你有益的。但如果你作恶，就应当惧怕；因为他佩剑，不是没有作用的。他是神的仆役，是向作恶的人施行刑罚的。

我就责备他们，咒诅他们，击打他们中间的几个人，拔下他们的头发，叫他们指着神起誓，说：“你们决不可把自己的女儿嫁给他们的儿子，也决不可为儿子或为自己娶他们的女儿。

君王坐在审判的位上，他的眼目查察一切恶事。
