王必謂之曰、我誠告爾、既行之於我兄弟至微之一、即行之於我也、

任彼咒詛、有主賜福、任彼興起、必受羞辱、主之僕人必得喜歡、

時摩押王西撥子巴勒起、攻以色列人、遣人召比珥子巴蘭來詛爾、我不許巴蘭詛、原文作我不欲聽巴蘭反使之為爾祝福、救爾脫於其手、

巴蘭作歌曰、巴勒可起以聽、西撥子傾聆我言、

摩押人甚懼以色列人、因其人多勢眾、摩押人緣以色列人之故、心甚憂惶、摩押人謂米甸諸長老曰、今此眾必以我四圍所有、盡行吞食、如牛之囓盡田間草萊然、當是時、西撥子巴勒為摩押王、彼乃遣使至比珥子巴蘭之本鄉、即河濱之毘奪、召巴蘭曰、有民出自伊及、其數甚眾、蔽於地面、蔽於地面或作周遍於地下同今與我對居、其民較我強盛、請爾來為我詛之、或可攻而勝之、逐之出境、因我素知爾為誰祝福、誰則得福、爾咒詛誰、誰則受禍、於是摩押長老、與米甸長老、攜卜金而去、往見巴蘭、以巴勒言告之、巴蘭謂之曰、爾今夜宿此、我必遵主所諭我者以覆爾、或作待主有所諭我我則覆爾摩押之使臣、與巴蘭同處、天主臨巴蘭問之曰、此偕爾之人為誰、巴蘭對天主曰、摩押王西撥子巴勒、遣之就我、曰、有民出自伊及、其數甚眾蔽於地面、請爾來為我詛之、或可攻而逐之出、

雅各乎、爾幕何其美、以色列乎、爾居何其麗、布列如平原、如河濱之園囿、如主栽之沈香、如水旁柏香木、彼如水溢於器外、如如原文作其種播於河灘、河灘原文作多水之處其王高於亞甲、其國必振興、天主導之出伊及、使之力強、可比野牛、必吞食敵國、折仇人之骨、刺之以箭、蹲如牡獅、臥如牝獅、孰敢攖之、祝爾者必見祝、詛爾者必被詛、巴勒怒巴蘭擊掌曰、我召爾詛我敵、爾反祝之三次、

天主所不咒、我何能咒、耶和華所不詛、我何能詛、我視之自山巔、觀之由高峰、此民獨處、不列於萬族中、雅各族多如塵沙、孰能計之、以色列四分之一、誰能數之、我願如善人之死而死、我願如善人之終而終、巴勒謂巴蘭曰、爾向我如此行何耶、我召爾咒詛我敵、爾反為之祝福、
