耶和华对我这样说：“你去站在犹大列王出入的城门（“城门”原文作“人民城门”），又站在耶路撒冷的各城门口，对他们说：‘耶路撒冷诸王、犹大众民和所有进入这些城门的犹大居民哪！你们要听他耶和华的话。耶和华这样说：为了自己的性命，你们要谨慎，不可在安息日挑担子，不可挑进耶路撒冷的城门。也不可在安息日从你们家里挑担子出来；什么工都不可作，却要守安息日为圣日，正如我吩咐你们列祖的。

“你们收割你们的庄稼的时候，不可把角落的谷物割尽，也不可拾取你收割时遗下的；把它们留给穷人和寄居的外人；我是耶和华你们的神。”

所以你们应该守安息日，因为这是你们的圣日；凡是违反这日的，必要把他处死；凡是在这日工作的，那人必要从他的族人中被剪除。六日可以工作，但第七日是歇工的安息日，是归耶和华为圣的，凡是在这安息日工作的，必须把那人处死。所以，以色列人要守安息日，他们世世代代要遵行安息日的规例，作为永远的约。这是我和以色列人中间永远的记号，因为六日之内耶和华创造了天地，但第七日就歇了工休息了。”

我吩咐他们说：“日上中天时，耶路撒冷的城门也不可长久敞开；太阳还停着未落，守门的人站岗的时候，也要关好门、上好闩，要派耶路撒冷的居民站岗，一些人在哨岗，另一些人在自己的屋前瞭望。”
