昔我列祖行是、上帝降災、罰及我身、殲滅斯邑、爾又犯之、貽禍於以色列族、尤有甚焉。

昔列祖亦如斯行、我天主以此諸災、降於我儕及此城、今爾犯安息日、使以色列人干主怒尤甚、

Didn’t your ancestors do the same things, so that our God brought all this calamity on us and on this city? Now you are stirring up more wrath against Israel by desecrating the Sabbath.”

Your people of long ago did the very same things. That’s why our God has brought all this trouble on us. That’s why he’s making this city suffer so much. Now you are making him even angrier against Israel. You are misusing the Sabbath day.”

Did not your fathers act in this way, and did not our God bring all this disaster on us and on this city? Now you are bringing more wrath on Israel by profaning the Sabbath.”

“ Wasn’t it just this sort of thing that your ancestors did that caused our God to bring all this trouble upon us and our city? Now you are bringing even more wrath upon Israel by permitting the Sabbath to be desecrated in this way!”

Didn’t your ancestors do the same, so that our God brought all this disaster on us and on this city? And now you are rekindling his anger against Israel by profaning the Sabbath!”

Did your fathers not do the same, so that our God brought on us and on this city all this trouble? Yet you are adding to the wrath against Israel by profaning the Sabbath.”

Did not your fathers do thus, and did not our God bring all this disaster on us and on this city? Yet you bring added wrath on Israel by profaning the Sabbath.”

Did not your fathers thus, and did not our God bring all this evil upon us, and upon this city? yet ye bring more wrath upon Israel by profaning the sabbath.

Didn’t your ancestors do the same, so that our God brought all this disaster on us and on this city? And now you are rekindling His anger against Israel by profaning the Sabbath!”

耶和華說，如果你們想保住性命，就要小心，不要在安息日帶貨物進耶路撒冷的城門，也不要從家中運出貨物，不要在安息日做任何工作。要按照我對你們祖先的吩咐守安息日為聖日。然而，他們卻不聽，毫不理會，頑固不化，不肯受教。

「雖然因為我們的惡行和大罪，這一切事情臨到我們，但我們的上帝啊，你給我們的懲罰比我們該受的輕多了，你還施恩給我們留下這些餘民。我們豈能再違背你的誡命，與這些行為可憎的人通婚？若我們這樣行，你豈不發怒毀滅我們，使我們無一倖免嗎？以色列的上帝耶和華啊，你是公義的，所以我們這些餘民今天才得以倖存。看啊，我們在你面前身負罪惡，因而無人能在你面前站立得住。」

「如果你們受過這些懲罰，仍然不知悔改，我要把比先前嚴厲七倍的懲罰加在你們身上。

他們要剝下你的衣服，奪去你的珠寶。

從前拜毗珥的罪惡不夠大嗎？那一次，瘟疫降到耶和華的會眾身上，直到今日我們還沒有洗淨這罪。你們今日要離棄耶和華嗎？今日你們背叛耶和華，明日祂必向以色列全體會眾發怒。

難道你們忘記了你們的祖先、猶大列王及其嬪妃，以及你們自己和妻子在猶大和耶路撒冷街上的惡行嗎？

她沒有放棄在埃及的淫蕩行為，她年輕的時候就任人玩弄、發洩情慾。

我也要與你們作對，向你們發烈怒，把比先前嚴厲七倍的懲罰加在你們身上。

不要像你們的祖先一樣。以前的先知曾呼喚他們要聽從萬軍之耶和華的話，改邪歸正，停止作惡，他們卻置若罔聞，不予理會。這是耶和華說的。現在你們的祖先在哪裡呢？那些先知能活到永遠嗎？然而，我吩咐我僕人——眾先知的訓言和律例豈不應驗在你們祖先的頭上了嗎？後來他們悔改了，說，萬軍之耶和華按著我們的所作所為報應了我們，正如祂所言。』」

「現在，你們這群罪人的後代竟然重蹈前人的覆轍，加劇耶和華的怒氣。

但如果你們不聽我的話，不守安息日為聖日，仍在安息日運貨物進耶路撒冷的城門，我必在各城門點起無法撲滅的大火，燒毀耶路撒冷的宮殿。』」

你們的可憎惡行令耶和華忍無可忍，以致祂使你們的土地一片荒涼，無人居住，被人咒詛，正如今天的情形。
