At that time I saw people in Judah treading wine presses on the Sabbath. They were also bringing in stores of grain and loading them on donkeys, along with wine, grapes, and figs. All kinds of goods were being brought to Jerusalem on the Sabbath day. So I warned them against selling food on that day.

In those days I saw people in Judah treading winepresses on the Sabbath and bringing in grain and loading it on donkeys, together with wine, grapes, figs and all other kinds of loads. And they were bringing all this into Jerusalem on the Sabbath. Therefore I warned them against selling food on that day.

In those days I saw some people of Judah stomping on grapes in winepresses. They were doing it on the Sabbath day. Other people were bringing in grain. They were loading it on donkeys. Still other people were loading up wine, grapes, figs and other kinds of things. They were bringing all of it into Jerusalem on the Sabbath day. So I warned them not to sell food on that day.

In those days I saw in Judah people treading winepresses on the Sabbath, and bringing in heaps of grain and loading them on donkeys, and also wine, grapes, figs, and all kinds of loads, which they brought into Jerusalem on the Sabbath day. And I warned them on the day when they sold food.

In those days I saw men of Judah treading out their winepresses on the Sabbath. They were also bringing in grain, loading it on donkeys, and bringing their wine, grapes, figs, and all sorts of produce to Jerusalem to sell on the Sabbath. So I rebuked them for selling their produce on that day.

So I admonished them on the day they sold food.

When the surrounding peoples bring merchandise or any kind of grain to sell on the Sabbath day, we will not buy from them on the Sabbath or a holy day. We will also leave the land uncultivated in the seventh year and will cancel every debt.

“ You are to labor six days but you must rest on the seventh day; you must even rest during plowing and harvesting times.

but I warned them,“ Why are you camping in front of the wall? If you do it again, I’ll use force against you.” After that they did not come again on the Sabbath.

“ If you keep from desecrating the Sabbath, from doing whatever you want on My holy day; if you call the Sabbath a delight, and the holy day of the Lord honorable; if you honor it, not going your own ways, seeking your own pleasure, or talking too much;

Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy:You are to labor six days and do all your work,but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. You must not do any work— you, your son or daughter, your male or female slave, your livestock, or the foreigner who is within your gates.For the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and everything in them in six days; then He rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and declared it holy.

This is what the Lord says: Watch yourselves; do not pick up a load and bring it in through the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day.You must not carry a load out of your houses on the Sabbath day or do any work, but you must consecrate the Sabbath day, just as I commanded your ancestors.

“ But the house of Israel rebelled against Me in the wilderness. They did not follow My statutes and they rejected My ordinances— the person who does them will live by them. They also completely profaned My Sabbaths. So I considered pouring out My wrath on them in the wilderness to put an end to them.

While the Israelites were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering wood on the Sabbath day.Those who found him gathering wood brought him to Moses, Aaron, and the entire community.They placed him in custody because it had not been decided what should be done to him.Then the Lord told Moses,“ The man is to be put to death. The entire community is to stone him outside the camp.”So the entire community brought him outside the camp and stoned him to death, as the Lord had commanded Moses.

If you ever forget the Lord your God and go after other gods to worship and bow down to them, I testify against you today that you will perish.

“ However, if you listen to Me, says the Lord, and do not bring loads through the gates of this city on the Sabbath day and consecrate the Sabbath day and do no work on it,

If you do not listen to Me to consecrate the Sabbath day by not carrying a load while entering the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day, I will set fire to its gates, and it will consume the citadels of Jerusalem and not be extinguished.”

For six days work is to be done, but on the seventh day you are to have a holy day, a Sabbath of complete rest to the Lord. Anyone who does work on it must be executed.

Be careful to remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy as the Lord your God has commanded you.You are to labor six days and do all your work,but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. You must not do any work— you, your son or daughter, your male or female slave, your ox or donkey, any of your livestock, or the foreigner who lives within your gates, so that your male and female slaves may rest as you do.

I testify to everyone who hears the prophetic words of this book: If anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book.And if anyone takes away from the words of this prophetic book, God will take away his share of the tree of life and the holy city, written in this book.

You warned them to turn back to Your law, but they acted arrogantly and would not obey Your commands. They sinned against Your ordinances, which a person will live by if he does them. They stubbornly resisted, stiffened their necks, and would not obey.

“ Listen, My people, and I will speak; I will testify against you, Israel. I am God, your God.

Nevertheless, He sent them prophets to bring them back to the Lord; they admonished them, but the people would not listen.

This means one must not transgress against and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is an avenger of all these offenses, as we also previously told and warned you.

I testified to both Jews and Greeks about repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus.

My people, what have I done to you, or how have I wearied you? Testify against Me!

The Lord has spoken concerning you, remnant of Judah:‘ Don’t go to Egypt.’ Know for certain that I have warned you today!

Therefore, I say this and testify in the Lord: You should no longer walk as the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their thoughts.

And with many other words he testified and strongly urged them, saying,“ Be saved from this corrupt generation!”

Again I testify to every man who gets himself circumcised that he is obligated to keep the entire law.
