On that day men were appointed over the storerooms, the contributions, the firstfruits, and the tithes, to gather into them the portions required by the Law for the priests and for the Levites according to the fields of the towns, for Judah rejoiced over the priests and the Levites who ministered.

並將初熟麥子所磨的麵和舉祭、各樣樹上的果子、新酒與新油奉給祭司，收在我們上帝殿的庫房裏，又把我們土地所產的十分之一奉給利未人，因利未人在我們一切城鎮的土產中當取十分之一。利未人取十分之一的時候，亞倫的子孫中當有一個祭司與利未人同在。利未人也當從十分之一中取十分之一，奉到我們上帝的殿，收在庫房的倉裏。因以色列人和利未人要把禮物，就是五穀、新酒和新油，帶到收存聖所器皿的倉裏，供職的祭司、門口的守衛、歌唱的都在那裏。我們絕不會不顧我們上帝的殿。

聽從我，天天在我門口守望，在我門框旁等候的，那人有福了。

或服事的，要專一服事；或教導的，要專一教導；

但那等候耶和華的必重新得力。他們必如鷹展翅上騰；他們奔跑卻不困倦，行走卻不疲乏。

他們每日早晚向耶和華獻燔祭，燒芬芳的香，又在純金的供桌上擺供餅，每晚點燃金燈臺上的燈盞，因為我們遵守耶和華－我們上帝的命令，但你們卻離棄了他。看哪，率領我們的是上帝，又有他的祭司拿號向你們吹出響聲。以色列人哪，不要與耶和華－你們列祖的上帝爭戰，因你們必不能得勝。」

他們的職務是作亞倫子孫的幫手，在耶和華的殿事奉，照管院子和屋子，潔淨一切聖物，辦理上帝殿的事務。
