於是人民出去取來，各人在自己的房頂上搭了樹枝棚子，或是在自己的院子裏，或是在上帝的院中，或是在水門廣場上，或是以法蓮門廣場上。

那時眾民如同一人聚集在水門前的廣場上，請經學士以斯拉將摩西的律法書帶來：那律法是永恆主吩咐以色列人遵守的。

然而大衛卻攻取了錫安的營寨、就是大衛城。那一天大衛就說：『誰攻擊耶布斯人、到達水溝去擊打大衛心所恨惡的瘸子瞎子，誰就可以得到重賞。』因此有命令說：瞎眼的瘸腿的不得進聖殿。大衛住在營寨裏，把營寨叫做大衛城；大衛又從米羅向聖殿方面往裏、周圍築牆。

泉門是米斯巴區長各荷西的兒子沙崙修造的：他們重造了那門，蓋了門頂，安立了門扇戶樞和門閂；又建造了靠近王家園子的西羅亞池的牆，直到那從大衛城下來的臺階。接着是伯夙半區的區長押卜的兒子尼希米修造了，直到大衛墳地的對面，又到人造池子和勇士堂。
