結果大衛的軍隊攻取了錫安的堡壘，即後來的大衛城。那天，大衛下令軍隊從地下水道爬進城去，攻打那些「瞎子、瘸子」，他憎惡這些耶布斯人。後來便有一句俗語：「瞎子、瘸子不得進殿！」大衛住在錫安的堡壘裡，並稱之為大衛城，他又從米羅興建環城圍牆。

各荷西的兒子、管理米斯巴的沙崙修築泉門，修好後蓋上門頂，安上門，裝上門閂和門鎖。他還從靠近御花園的西羅亞池的城牆，一直修到大衛城下來的臺階處。再下一段由押蔔的兒子、管理半個伯·夙的尼希米修築，他一直修到大衛墓地對面，遠至人工池和勇士堂。
