Now the leaders of the people settled in Jerusalem. The rest of the people cast lots to bring one out of every ten of them to live in Jerusalem, the holy city, while the remaining nine were to stay in their own towns.

The leaders of the people made their homes in Jerusalem. The rest of the people cast lots. They did it to choose one person out of every ten of them. That person was chosen to live in the holy city of Jerusalem. The other nine had to stay in their own towns.

The leaders of the people were living in Jerusalem, the holy city. A tenth of the people from the other towns of Judah and Benjamin were chosen by sacred lots to live there, too, while the rest stayed where they were.

在聖城所有的利未人共二百八十四名。

我們的祭司、利未人和百姓都抽籤，每年按父家定期將奉獻的木柴帶到我們神的殿裏，照着律法上所寫的，燒在耶和華－我們神的壇上。

錫安哪，興起！興起！穿上你的能力！聖城耶路撒冷啊，穿上你華美的衣服！因為從今以後，未受割禮、不潔淨的必不再進入你中間。

魔鬼就帶他進了聖城，叫他站在聖殿頂上，

耶穌復活以後，他們從墳墓裏出來，進了聖城，向許多人顯現。

他們無論大小，都按着父系抽籤，分守各門。

眾人禱告說：「主啊，你知道萬人的心，求你從這兩個人中指明你所揀選的是哪一位，

約書亞就在示羅，在耶和華面前為他們抽籤。約書亞按照以色列人的支派，在那裏把地分給他們。

城又寬又大，城中的百姓卻稀少，房屋也還沒有建造。我的神感動我的心，我就召集貴族、官長和百姓，要登記家譜。我找到第一次上來之人的家譜，發現上面寫着：

他們在那裏設立審判的寶座，就是大衛家的寶座。

「你城中若有難以判斷的案件，涉及流血，訴訟，或毆打等爭訟的事，你就要起來，上到那裏，耶和華－你神所選擇的地方，去見利未家的祭司和當時的審判官，求問他們，他們必將判決指示你。

現在，我們要這樣對付基比亞，照所抽的籤去攻打他們。我們要在以色列各支派中，一百人選十人，一千人選一百人，一萬人選一千人，為那到便雅憫的迦巴去的士兵運糧；因為基比亞在以色列中行了可恥的事。」

人雖可擲籤在膝上，定事卻由耶和華。
