Now the leaders of the people settled in Jerusalem. The rest of the people cast lots to bring one out of every ten of them to live in Jerusalem, the holy city, while the remaining nine were to stay in their own towns.

他們自稱為聖城的人，所倚靠的是名為萬軍之耶和華－以色列的神。

我們的祭司、利未人，和百姓都掣籤，看每年是哪一族按定期將獻祭的柴奉到我們神的殿裏，照着律法上所寫的，燒在耶和華－我們神的壇上。

錫安哪，興起！興起！披上你的能力！聖城耶路撒冷啊，穿上你華美的衣服！因為從今以後，未受割禮、不潔淨的必不再進入你中間。

魔鬼就帶他進了聖城，叫他站在殿頂上，

到耶穌復活以後，他們從墳墓裏出來，進了聖城，向許多人顯現。

他們無論大小，都按着宗族掣籤分守各門。

眾人就禱告說：「主啊，你知道萬人的心，求你從這兩個人中，指明你所揀選的是誰，叫他得這使徒的位分。這位分猶大已經丟棄，往自己的地方去了。」

約書亞就在示羅，耶和華面前，為他們拈鬮。約書亞在那裏，按着以色列人的支派，將地分給他們。

城是廣大，其中的民卻稀少，房屋還沒有建造。我的神感動我心，招聚貴冑、官長，和百姓，要照家譜計算。我找着第一次上來之人的家譜，其上寫着：

因為在那裏設立審判的寶座，就是大衛家的寶座。

「你城中若起了爭訟的事，或因流血，或因爭競，或因毆打，是你難斷的案件，你就當起來，往耶和華－你神所選擇的地方去見祭司利未人，並當時的審判官，求問他們，他們必將判語指示你。

我們向基比亞人必這樣行，照所掣的籤去攻擊他們。我們要在以色列各支派中，一百人挑取十人，一千人挑取百人，一萬人挑取千人，為民運糧，等大眾到了便雅憫的基比亞，就照基比亞人在以色列中所行的醜事征伐他們。」

籤放在懷裏，定事由耶和華。
