The people of Israel, including the Levites, are to bring their contributions of grain, new wine and olive oil to the storerooms, where the articles for the sanctuary and for the ministering priests, the gatekeepers and the musicians are also kept.“ We will not neglect the house of our God.”

That’s also where the objects are kept for the priests serving at the temple, the musicians and the men who guard the gates.“ We won’t forget to take care of the house of our God.”

Thou mayest not eat within thy gates the tithe of thy grain, or of thy new wine, or of thine oil, or the firstlings of thy herd or of thy flock, nor any of thy vows which thou vowest, nor thy freewill- offerings, nor the heave- offering of thy hand;

For the sake of the house of Jehovah our God I will seek thy good.

and thither ye shall bring your burnt- offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and the heave- offering of your hand, and your vows, and your freewill- offerings, and the firstlings of your herd and of your flock:and there ye shall eat before Jehovah your God, and ye shall rejoice in all that ye put your hand unto, ye and your households, wherein Jehovah thy God hath blessed thee.Ye shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man whatsoever is right in his own eyes;for ye are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which Jehovah thy God giveth thee.But when ye go over the Jordan, and dwell in the land which Jehovah your God causeth you to inherit, and he giveth you rest from all your enemies round about, so that ye dwell in safety;then it shall come to pass that to the place which Jehovah your God shall choose, to cause his name to dwell there, thither shall ye bring all that I command you: your burnt- offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the heave- offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which ye vow unto Jehovah.

And I perceived that the portions of the Levites had not been given them; so that the Levites and the singers, that did the work, were fled every one to his field.Then contended I with the rulers, and said, Why is the house of God forsaken? And I gathered them together, and set them in their place.Then brought all Judah the tithe of the grain and the new wine and the oil unto the treasuries.

Therefore thou shalt say unto them, When ye heave the best thereof from it, then it shall be reckoned unto the Levites as the increase of the threshing- floor, and as the increase of the wine- press.
