“ We— the priests, the Levites and the people— have cast lots to determine when each of our families is to bring to the house of our God at set times each year a contribution of wood to burn on the altar of the Lord our God, as it is written in the Law.

律例有之、必燔柴於我上帝耶和華壇、故我祭司、利未人、庶民、掣籤、何族屆期運柴入殿。

以備陳設餅、恆獻之素祭、恆獻之火焚祭、安息日、朔日、節期、所獻之祭、及所需別類之聖物、為以色列人所獻之贖罪祭、與凡我天主殿中所需者、

“ We are the priests, Levites and people. Each of our families should bring a gift of wood to the house of our God. We have cast lots to decide when they will do that. They will bring it at certain appointed times every year. The wood will be burned on the altar of the Lord our God. That’s what the Law requires.

We, the priests, the Levites, and the people, have likewise cast lots for the wood offering, to bring it into the house of our God, according to our fathers’ houses, at times appointed, year by year, to burn on the altar of the Lord our God, as it is written in the Law.

“ We have cast sacred lots to determine when— at regular times each year— the families of the priests, Levites, and the common people should bring wood to God’s Temple to be burned on the altar of the Lord our God, as is written in the Law.

We have cast lots among the priests, Levites, and people for the donation of wood by our ancestral families at the appointed times each year. They are to bring the wood to our God’s house to burn on the altar of the LORD our God, as it is written in the law.

And we cast the lots among the priests, the Levites, and the people, for the wood offering, to bring[ it] into the house of our God, after the houses of our fathers, at times appointed year by year, to burn upon the altar of the LORD our God, as[ it is] written in the law:

“ We– the priests, the Levites, and the people– have cast lots concerning the wood offerings, to bring them to the temple of our God according to our families at the designated times year by year to burn on the altar of the LORD our God, as is written in the law.

We, the priests, the Levites, and the people, cast lots for the wood offering, to bring it into the house of our God, according to our fathers’ houses, at times appointed, year by year, to burn on Yahweh our God’s altar, as it is written in the law;

I also made provision for contributions of wood at designated times, and for the firstfruits. Remember me with favor, my God.

Lebanon is not sufficient for altar fires, nor its animals enough for burnt offerings.

Now the leaders of the people settled in Jerusalem. The rest of the people cast lots to bring one out of every ten of them to live in Jerusalem, the holy city, while the remaining nine were to stay in their own towns.

That day he made the Gibeonites woodcutters and water carriers for the assembly, to provide for the needs of the altar of the Lord at the place the Lord would choose. And that is what they are to this day.

Casting the lot settles disputes and keeps strong opponents apart.

The first lot fell to Jehoiarib, the second to Jedaiah,

Young and old alike, teacher as well as student, cast lots for their duties.The first lot, which was for Asaph, fell to Joseph, his sons and relatives 12 the second to Gedaliah, him and his relatives and sons 12

But those sacrifices are an annual reminder of sins.It is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said:“ Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me;with burnt offerings and sin offerings you were not pleased.Then I said,‘ Here I am— it is written about me in the scroll— I have come to do your will, my God.’”

They divided them impartially by casting lots, for there were officials of the sanctuary and officials of God among the descendants of both Eleazar and Ithamar.

The fire on the altar must be kept burning; it must not go out. Every morning the priest is to add firewood and arrange the burnt offering on the fire and burn the fat of the fellowship offerings on it.The fire must be kept burning on the altar continuously; it must not go out.
