我们不将女儿嫁给当地的人，也不为儿子娶当地的女子。

我们必不把我们的女儿嫁给这地的外族人，也不为我们的儿子娶他们的女儿。

就是說，我們決不將我們的女兒嫁給這地別族之民，也不為我們的兒子娶他們的女兒。

不以我女嫁斯土之民、不為我子娶其女、

不以女嫁異邦人、不以異邦人之女娶為媳。

皆從貴顯之同族、發誓立盟、必遵天主僕摩西所傳天主之律法、謹守遵行我主耶和華之一切誡命、律例、法度、

“ We promise not to give our daughters in marriage to the peoples around us or take their daughters for our sons.

Here is what the priests, Levites and people said.“ We promise not to let our daughters marry men from the nations around us. And we promise not to let their daughters marry our sons.

We will not give our daughters to the peoples of the land or take their daughters for our sons.

“ We promise not to let our daughters marry the pagan people of the land, and not to let our sons marry their daughters.

We will not give our daughters in marriage to the surrounding peoples and will not take their daughters as wives for our sons.

We would not give our daughters as wives to the peoples of the land, nor take their daughters for our sons;

and that we would not give our daughters unto the peoples of the land, nor take their daughters for our sons;

We will not give our daughters in marriage to the surrounding peoples and will not take their daughters as wives for our sons.

And that we would not give our daughters unto the people of the land, nor take their daughters for our sons:

“ We will not give our daughters in marriage to the neighboring peoples, and we will not take their daughters in marriage for our sons.

and that we would not give our daughters to the peoples of the land, nor take their daughters for our sons;

and you might take some of his daughters for your sons, and his daughters might prostitute themselves with their gods and cause your sons also to prostitute themselves with their gods.

Furthermore, you shall not intermarry with them: you shall not give your daughters to their sons, nor shall you take their daughters for your sons.

Then Ezra the priest stood up and said to them,“ You have been unfaithful and have married foreign wives, adding to the guilt of Israel.Now therefore, make confession to the Lord God of your fathers and do His will; and separate yourselves from the peoples of the land and from the foreign wives.”Then all the assembly replied with a loud voice,“ It is our duty to do exactly as you have said!

So now do not give your daughters to their sons nor take their daughters for your sons, and never seek their peace or their prosperity, so that you may be strong and may eat the good things of the land, and leave it as an inheritance to your sons forever.’And after everything that has come upon us for our evil deeds and our great guilt, since You our God have spared us by inflicting less than our wrongdoing deserves, and have given us such an escaped remnant as this,shall we again break Your commandments and intermarry with the peoples who commit these abominations? Would You not be angry with us to the point of destruction, until there would be no remnant nor any who would escape?

Now when these things had been completed, the officials approached me, saying,“ The people of Israel and the priests and the Levites have not separated themselves from the peoples of the lands, as to their abominations, those of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites.For they have taken some of their daughters as wives for themselves and for their sons, so that the holy race has intermingled with the peoples of the lands; indeed, the hands of the officials and the leaders have taken the lead in this unfaithfulness.”When I heard about this matter, I tore my garment and my robe, and pulled out some of the hair from my head and my beard, and sat down appalled.
