We will not give our daughters in marriage to the surrounding peoples and will not take their daughters as wives for our sons.

我们不把我们的女儿嫁给这地的居民，也不为我们的儿子娶他们的女儿。

我们不把我们的女儿嫁给这地的居民，也不为我们的儿子娶他们的女儿。

我们不将女儿嫁给当地的人，也不为儿子娶当地的女子。

我们必不把我们的女儿嫁给这地的外族人，也不为我们的儿子娶他们的女儿。

我們必不把我們的女兒嫁給這地的外族人，也不為我們的兒子娶他們的女兒。

就是說，我們決不將我們的女兒嫁給這地別族之民，也不為我們的兒子娶他們的女兒。

不以我女嫁斯土之民、不為我子娶其女、

不以女嫁異邦人、不以異邦人之女娶為媳。

皆從貴顯之同族、發誓立盟、必遵天主僕摩西所傳天主之律法、謹守遵行我主耶和華之一切誡命、律例、法度、

“ We promise not to give our daughters in marriage to the peoples around us or take their daughters for our sons.

Here is what the priests, Levites and people said.“ We promise not to let our daughters marry men from the nations around us. And we promise not to let their daughters marry our sons.

We will not give our daughters to the peoples of the land or take their daughters for our sons.

“ We promise not to let our daughters marry the pagan people of the land, and not to let our sons marry their daughters.

and that we will not give our daughters to the peoples of the land or take their daughters for our sons.

We would not give our daughters as wives to the peoples of the land, nor take their daughters for our sons;

and that we would not give our daughters unto the peoples of the land, nor take their daughters for our sons;

We will not give our daughters in marriage to the surrounding peoples and will not take their daughters as wives for our sons.

And that we would not give our daughters unto the people of the land, nor take their daughters for our sons:

“ We will not give our daughters in marriage to the neighboring peoples, and we will not take their daughters in marriage for our sons.

and that we would not give our daughters to the peoples of the land, nor take their daughters for our sons;

Then you will take some of their daughters as brides for your sons. Their daughters will prostitute themselves with their gods and cause your sons to prostitute themselves with their gods.

You must not intermarry with them, and you must not give your daughters to their sons or take their daughters for your sons,

Then the priest Ezra stood up and said to them,“ You have been unfaithful by marrying foreign women, adding to Israel’s guilt.Therefore, make a confession to the LORD, the God of your ancestors, and do his will. Separate yourselves from the surrounding peoples and your foreign wives.”Then all the assembly responded loudly,“ Yes, we will do as you say!

So do not give your daughters to their sons in marriage or take their daughters for your sons. Never pursue their welfare or prosperity, so that you will be strong, eat the good things of the land, and leave it as an inheritance to your sons forever.”After all that has happened to us because of our evil deeds and terrible guilt— though you, our God, have punished us less than our iniquities deserve and have allowed us to survive—should we break your commands again and intermarry with the peoples who commit these detestable practices? Wouldn’t you become so angry with us that you would destroy us, leaving neither remnant nor survivor?

After these things had been done, the leaders approached me and said,“ The people of Israel, the priests, and the Levites have not separated themselves from the surrounding peoples whose detestable practices are like those of the Canaanites, Hethites, Perizzites, Jebusites, Ammonites, Moabites, Egyptians, and Amorites.Indeed, the Israelite men have taken some of their daughters as wives for themselves and their sons, so that the holy seed has become mixed with the surrounding peoples. The leaders and officials have taken the lead in this unfaithfulness!”When I heard this report, I tore my tunic and robe, pulled out some of the hair from my head and beard, and sat down devastated.
