I will put my Spirit within you; I will take the initiative and you will obey my statutes and carefully observe my regulations.

You are my friends if you do what I command you.

When morning came, the Jews formed a conspiracy and bound themselves with an oath not to eat or drink anything until they had killed Paul.There were more than forty of them who formed this conspiracy.They went to the chief priests and the elders and said,“ We have bound ourselves with a solemn oath not to partake of anything until we have killed Paul.So now you and the council request the commanding officer to bring him down to you, as if you were going to determine his case by conducting a more thorough inquiry. Anyone who would not seek the LORD God of Israel would be executed, whether they were young or old, male or female.They swore their allegiance to the LORD, shouting their approval loudly and sounding trumpets and horns.

Be careful, therefore, to do exactly what the LORD your God has commanded you; do not turn right or left!

“ Remember the law of my servant Moses, to whom at Horeb I gave rules and regulations for all Israel to obey.

So do not let them persuade you to do this, because more than forty of them are lying in ambush for him. They have bound themselves with an oath not to eat or drink anything until they have killed him, and now they are ready, waiting for you to agree to their request.”

Love must be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil, cling to what is good.

Now, O LORD God of Israel, keep the promise you made to your servant, my father David, when you said,‘ You will never fail to have a successor ruling before me on the throne of Israel, provided that your descendants watch their step and obey my law as you have done.’

so that you may enter by oath into the covenant the LORD your God is making with you today.Today he will affirm that you are his people and that he is your God, just as he promised you and as he swore by oath to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.It is not with you alone that I am making this covenant by oath,

So I entered a complaint with them. I called down a curse on them, and I struck some of the men and pulled out their hair. I had them swear by God saying,“ You will not marry off your daughters to their sons, and you will not take any of their daughters as wives for your sons or for yourselves!

But Jehu did not carefully and wholeheartedly obey the law of the LORD God of Israel. He did not repudiate the sins which Jeroboam had encouraged Israel to commit.

O LORD, our Lord, how magnificent is your reputation throughout the earth!

For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came about through Jesus Christ.

Moses delivered to us a law, an inheritance for the assembly of Jacob.
