When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven.

爾將興起、矜憫郇邑、今屆撫恤之時、定期已至兮、爾僕悅其石、而惜其土兮、

曰、以色列族遁於非利士人前、殺戮甚鉅、爾之二子、何弗尼非尼哈皆死、上帝之匱見奪、以利年老體重、聞言及上帝匱、則自座仰跌、隕於門側、折頸而死、以利為以色列士師、歷四十年、其媳非尼哈妻臨產、聞上帝匱見奪、舅與夫並死、劬勞即至、卷曲以產、臨死之際、旁侍之婦曰、勿懼、爾生男矣、婦不答、不以為意、遂名子以迦博、曰、以色列之榮已去、乃因上帝之匱見奪、舅與夫已死也、又曰、上帝之匱見奪、以色列之榮去矣、

為大會而憂者、我將集之、彼原屬爾、以爾之辱為重負也、

曰、我乃希伯來人、畏天上上帝耶和華、造滄海與陸地者也、

請其為此秘奧、求天上上帝矜憫、免但以理及其同儕、與其餘之巴比倫哲士偕亡、

彼曰、我乃主宰天地上帝之僕、在昔多年、以色列之大王建築斯室、我儕欲復建之、我列祖激天上上帝之怒、彼付之於迦勒底人、巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒之手、毀斯室、虜其民至巴比倫、

我聞此事、裂衣袍、拔鬚髮、愕然而坐、
