Hanani, one of my brothers, came from Judah with some other men, and I questioned them about the Jewish remnant that had survived the exile, and also about Jerusalem.

At that time Hanani came from Judah with some other men. He was one of my brothers. I asked him and the other men about the Jews who were left alive in Judah. They had returned from Babylon. I also asked him about Jerusalem.

我吩咐我的兄弟哈拿尼和城堡的官長哈拿尼雅管理耶路撒冷，因為哈拿尼雅是一個忠信的人，敬畏上帝過於眾人。

耶路撒冷啊，我若忘記你，寧願我的右手枯萎；我若不記得你，不看你過於我最喜樂的，寧願我的舌頭貼於上膛！

那進入埃及地、在那裏寄居的，就是倖存的猶大人，都不得逃脫，也不得歸回猶大地。他們心中很想歸回，居住在那裏；但除了少數逃脫的以外，都不得歸回。」

現在耶和華－我們的上帝暫且向我們施恩，為我們留下一些殘存之民，使我們如釘子釘在他的聖所，讓我們的上帝光照我們的眼目，使我們在受轄制之中稍微復興。我們是奴僕，然而在受轄制之中，我們的上帝沒有丟棄我們，在波斯諸王面前向我們施恩，叫我們復興，能重建我們上帝的殿，修補毀壞之處，使我們在猶大和耶路撒冷有城牆。

逃脫的人豈不來到你這裏，使你耳聞這事嗎？那日你要向逃脫的人開口說話，不再啞口無言。你必這樣成為他們的預兆，他們就知道我是耶和華。」

你們要為耶路撒冷求平安：「願愛你的人興旺！願你城中有平安！願你宮內得平靜！」為我弟兄和同伴的緣故，我要說：「願你平安！」為耶和華－我們上帝殿的緣故，我要為你求福！

那些逃脫的人，必在被擄所到的各國中記得我，我心裏何等傷痛，因他們起淫心，離棄我，淫蕩的眼追隨偶像。他們因所做一切可憎的惡事，必厭惡自己。

其中倖存的要逃脫，各人因自己的罪孽在山上發出悲聲，如谷中的鴿子哀鳴；

我們豈可再違背你的誡命，與行這些可憎之事的民族結親呢？若我們這樣行，你豈不向我們發怒，將我們滅絕，以致沒有一個餘民或殘存之民嗎？
