爾傷莫能減之、爾創甚劇、凡聞爾之音耗者、必向爾鼓掌、蓋爾之兇惡、誰未屢受之耶、

所受之傷、不得醫痊、凡聞斯音、必鼓其掌、蓋爾之暴虐、遐邇咸知焉。

爾所受之傷、無藥可治、所受之損、終必致死、凡聞爾音信者、必因爾鼓掌、蓋爾之兇惡、兇惡或作暴虐誰未受之、

Nothing can heal you; your wound is fatal. All who hear the news about you clap their hands at your fall, for who has not felt your endless cruelty?

Nothing can heal your wounds. You will die of them. All those who hear the news about you clap their hands. That’s because you have fallen from power. Is there anyone who has not suffered because of how badly you treated them?

There is no easing your hurt; your wound is grievous. All who hear the news about you clap their hands over you. For upon whom has not come your unceasing evil?

There is no healing for your wound; your injury is fatal. All who hear of your destruction will clap their hands for joy. Where can anyone be found who has not suffered from your continual cruelty?

All that pass by clap their hands at you. They hiss and wag their head at the daughter of Jerusalem, saying,“ Is this the city that men called‘ The perfection of beauty, the joy of the whole earth’?”

Truly, Yahweh, the kings of Assyria have destroyed all the countries and their land,

Go up into Gilead, and take balm, virgin daughter of Egypt. You use many medicines in vain. There is no healing for you.

Yes, the cypress trees rejoice with you, with the cedars of Lebanon, saying,“ Since you are humbled, no lumberjack has come up against us.”Sheol from beneath has moved for you to meet you at your coming. It stirs up the departed spirits for you, even all the rulers of the earth. It has raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations.They all will answer and ask you,“ Have you also become as weak as we are? Have you become like us?”Your pomp is brought down to Sheol, with the sound of your stringed instruments. Maggots are spread out under you, and worms cover you.How you have fallen from heaven, shining one, son of the dawn! How you are cut down to the ground, who laid the nations low!You said in your heart,“ I will ascend into heaven! I will exalt my throne above the stars of God! I will sit on the mountain of assembly, in the far north!I will ascend above the heights of the clouds! I will make myself like the Most High!”Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol, to the depths of the pit.Those who see you will stare at you. They will ponder you, saying,“ Is this the man who made the earth to tremble, who shook kingdoms,who made the world like a wilderness, and overthrew its cities, who didn’t release his prisoners to their home?”All the kings of the nations, sleep in glory, everyone in his own house.But you are cast away from your tomb like an abominable branch, clothed with the slain, who are thrust through with the sword, who go down to the stones of the pit; like a dead body trodden under foot.You will not join them in burial, because you have destroyed your land. You have killed your people. The offspring of evildoers will not be named forever.Prepare for slaughter of his children because of the iniquity of their fathers, that they not rise up and possess the earth, and fill the surface of the world with cities.

There is no one to plead your cause, that you may be bound up. You have no healing medicines.All your lovers have forgotten you. They don’t seek you. For I have wounded you with the wound of an enemy, with the chastisement of a cruel one, for the greatness of your iniquity, because your sins were increased.Why do you cry over your injury? Your pain is incurable. For the greatness of your iniquity, because your sins have increased, I have done these things to you.

I will send him against a profane nation, and against the people who anger me I will give him a command to take the plunder and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.However he doesn’t mean so, neither does his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy, and to cut off not a few nations.For he says,“ Aren’t all of my princes kings?Isn’t Calno like Carchemish? Isn’t Hamath like Arpad? Isn’t Samaria like Damascus?”As my hand has found the kingdoms of the idols, whose engraved images exceeded those of Jerusalem and of Samaria;shall I not, as I have done to Samaria and her idols, so do to Jerusalem and her idols?Therefore it will happen that when the Lord has performed his whole work on Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the willful proud heart of the king of Assyria, and the insolence of his arrogant looks.For he has said,“ By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I have understanding. I have removed the boundaries of the peoples, and have robbed their treasures. Like a valiant man I have brought down their rulers.My hand has found the riches of the peoples like a nest, and like one gathers eggs that are abandoned, I have gathered all the earth. There was no one who moved their wing, or that opened their mouth, or chirped.”

He will stretch out his hand against the north, destroy Assyria, and will make Nineveh a desolation, as dry as the wilderness.Herds will lie down in the middle of her, all the animals of the nations. Both the pelican and the porcupine will lodge in its capitals. Their calls will echo through the windows. Desolation will be in the thresholds, for he has laid bare the cedar beams.This is the joyous city that lived carelessly, that said in her heart,“ I am, and there is no one besides me.” How she has become a desolation, a place for animals to lie down in! Everyone who passes by her will hiss, and shake their fists.

“ Son of man, I have broken the arm of Pharaoh king of Egypt. Behold, it has not been bound up, to apply medicines, to put a bandage to bind it, that it become strong to hold the sword.Therefore the Lord Yahweh says:‘ Behold, I am against Pharaoh king of Egypt, and will break his arms, the strong arm, and that which was broken. I will cause the sword to fall out of his hand.

“ Rejoice over her, O heaven, you saints, apostles, and prophets; for God has judged your judgment on her.”

It was given to him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them. Authority over every tribe, people, language, and nation was given to him.

He cried with a mighty voice, saying,“ Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great, and she has become a habitation of demons, a prison of every unclean spirit, and a prison of every unclean and hateful bird!For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her sexual immorality, the kings of the earth committed sexual immorality with her, and the merchants of the earth grew rich from the abundance of her luxury.”

with whom the kings of the earth committed sexual immorality. Those who dwell in the earth were made drunken with the wine of her sexual immorality.”

The voice of news, behold, it comes, and a great commotion out of the north country, to make the cities of Judah a desolation, a dwelling place of jackals.

For the Lord Yahweh says:“ Because you have clapped your hands, stamped with the feet, and rejoiced with all the contempt of your soul against the land of Israel;

Where is the den of the lions, and the feeding place of the young lions, where the lion and the lioness walked, the lion’s cubs, and no one made them afraid?The lion tore in pieces enough for his cubs, and strangled for his lionesses, and filled his caves with the kill, and his dens with prey.
