就與眾領袖和眾勇士商議，要把城外各道水泉堵塞，他們都贊同。於是有一大班人集合起來，堵塞了一切泉源和流通那地的溪流，他們說：“為甚麼要讓亞述王得著充沛的水源呢？”

“要準備好大小的盾牌，踏上戰場。要裝備馬匹，騎上戰馬；站好崗位，戴上頭盔；磨快槍矛，穿上鐵甲。

你們要在列國中宣告以下這話：“你們要預備爭戰，要激動勇士。讓所有的戰士都近前來，讓他們都上去攻擊。要把犁頭打成刀劍，把鐮刀打成矛槍；軟弱的要說：‘我是勇士。’四圍的列國啊！你們快來幫助，在那裡一同聚集。耶和華啊！求你叫你的勇士下來吧。

馬匹啊，上前吧！戰車啊，狂奔吧！勇士啊，就是緊握盾牌的古實人和弗人，以及拉弓的呂底亞人哪，上陣吧！

你們看見大衛的缺口很多，就儲存下池的水。你們又數點耶路撒冷的房屋，把房屋拆掉，用來堅固城牆。你們又在兩道城牆之間造一個水池，用來盛載舊池的水，你們卻不仰望作這事的主，也不顧念遠古以來計劃這事的神。

列國之民啊！你們儘管作惡，但你們終必毀滅！所有在遠處的人民啊，要留心聽！你們儘管束腰吧，你們終必毀滅！你們儘管束腰吧，你們終必毀滅！

我挖井和喝水；我用我的腳掌踏乾埃及的河流。’

希西家曾對你們說：耶和華我們的神必拯救我們脫離亞述王的手。他不是迷惑你們，使你們因飢渴而死嗎？
