You too will become drunk; you will go into hiding and seek refuge from the enemy.

People of Nineveh, you too will get drunk. You will try to hide from your enemies. You will look for a place of safety.

You also will be drunken; you will go into hiding; you will seek a refuge from the enemy.

And you, Nineveh, will also stagger like a drunkard. You will hide for fear of the attacking enemy.

You also will become drunk; you will hide. You also will seek refuge from the enemy.

You also will be drunk; You will be hidden; You also will seek refuge from the enemy.

Thou also shalt be drunken; thou shalt be hid; thou also shalt seek a stronghold because of the enemy.

You also will become drunk; you will hide yourself. You also will seek refuge from the enemy.

You too will act like drunkards; you will go into hiding; you too will seek refuge from the enemy.

I will feed your oppressors with their own flesh, And they will become drunk with their own blood as with sweet wine; And humanity will know that I, the Lord, am your Savior And your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.”

Enter the rocky place and hide in the dust From the terror of the Lord and from the splendor of His majesty.

People will go into caves of the rocks And into holes in the ground Away from the terror of the Lord And the splendor of His majesty, When He arises to terrify the earth.

For a cup is in the hand of the Lord, and the wine foams; It is well mixed, and He pours out of this; Certainly all the wicked of the earth must drain and drink its dregs.

Then the kings of the earth and the eminent people, and the commanders and the wealthy and the strong, and every slave and free person hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains;and they* said to the mountains and the rocks,“ Fall on us and hide us from the sight of Him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb;for the great day of Their wrath has come, and who is able to stand?”

Declare in Judah and proclaim in Jerusalem, and say,“ Blow the trumpet in the land; Cry aloud and say,‘ Assemble, and let’s go Into the fortified cities.’

Then they will begin to say to the mountains,‘ Fall on us,’ and to the hills,‘ Cover us.’

Like tangled thorns, And like those who are drunken with their drink, They are consumed Like stubble completely dried up.

Also the high places of Aven, the sin of Israel, will be destroyed; Thorns and thistles will grow on their altars; Then they will say to the mountains,“ Cover us!” And to the hills,“ Fall on us!”

And though they hide on the summit of Carmel, I will track them down and take them from there; And though they hide themselves from My sight on the bottom of the sea, I will command the serpent from there, and it will bite them.

When the two of them revealed themselves to the garrison of the Philistines, the Philistines said,“ Behold, Hebrews are coming out of the holes where they have kept themselves hidden.”

Why are we sitting still? Assemble yourselves, and let’s go into the fortified cities And perish there, For the Lord our God has doomed us And given us poisoned water to drink, Because we have sinned against the Lord.

“ I will make her leaders and her wise men drunk, Her governors, her officials, and her warriors, So that they will sleep a perpetual sleep and not wake up,” Declares the King, whose name is the Lord of armies.

Be delayed and horrified, Blind yourselves and be blind; They become drunk, but not with wine, They stagger, but not with intoxicating drink.

They will lick up dust like a snake, Like reptiles of the earth. They will come trembling out of their fortresses; To the Lord our God they will come in trepidation, And they will be afraid of You.

The one who scatters has come up against you. Keep watch over the fortress, watch the road; Bind up your waist, summon all your strength.

When the men of Israel saw that they were in trouble( for the people were hard pressed), then the people kept themselves hidden in caves, in crevices, in cliffs, in crypts, and in pits.

I trampled down the peoples in My anger And made them drunk with My wrath, And I poured out their lifeblood on the earth.”

For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says to me:“ Take this cup of the wine of wrath from My hand and give it to all the nations to whom I send you, to drink from it.Then they will drink and loudly vomit and act insanely because of the sword that I am going to send among them.”So I took the cup from the Lord’s hand and gave it to all the nations to whom the Lord sent me, to drink from it:To Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, and its kings and its officials, to make them places of ruins, objects of horror, hissing, and a curse, as it is this day;To Pharaoh king of Egypt, his servants, his officials, and all his people;and to all the foreign people, all the kings of the land of Uz, all the kings of the land of the Philistines( that is, Ashkelon, Gaza, Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod);To Edom, Moab, and the sons of Ammon;and to all the kings of Tyre, all the kings of Sidon, and the kings of the coastlands which are beyond the sea;and to Dedan, Tema, Buz, and all who trim the corners of their hair;and to all the kings of Arabia and all the kings of the foreign people who live in the desert;and to all the kings of Zimri, all the kings of Elam, and all the kings of Media;and to all the kings of the north, near and far, one with another; and all the kingdoms of the earth which are on the face of the ground; and the king of Sheshach shall drink it after them.“ And you shall say to them,‘ This is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel says:“ Drink, be drunk, vomit, fall down, and do not get up, because of the sword which I am sending among you.” ’
