Where now is the lions’ den, the place where they fed their young, where the lion and lioness went, and the cubs, with nothing to fear?

Assyria is like a lion. Where is the lions’ den now? Where did they feed their cubs? Where did all the lions go? In their den they had nothing to fear.

Where is the lions’ den, the feeding place of the young lions, where the lion and lioness went, where his cubs were, with none to disturb?

Where now is that great Nineveh, that den filled with young lions? It was a place where people— like lions and their cubs— walked freely and without fear.

Where is the lions’ lair, or the feeding ground of the young lions, where the lion and lioness prowled, and the lion’s cub, with nothing to frighten them away?

Where is the dwelling of the lions, And the feeding place of the young lions, Where the lion walked, the lioness and lion’s cub, And no one made them afraid?

Where is the den of the lions, and the feeding- place of the young lions, where the lion and the lioness walked, the lion’s whelp, and none made them afraid?

Where is the lions’ lair, or the feeding ground of the young lions, where the lion and lioness prowled, and the lion’s cub, with nothing to frighten them away?

Where[ is] the dwelling of the lions, and the feedingplace of the young lions, where the lion,[ even] the old lion, walked,[ and] the lion’s whelp, and none made[ them] afraid?

Where now is the den of the lions, the feeding place of the young lions, where the lion, lioness, and lion cub once prowled and no one disturbed them?

Its roaring is like a lioness, and it roars like young lions; It growls as it seizes the prey And carries it off with no one to save it.

The young lions have roared at him, They have roared loudly. And they have made his land a waste; His cities have been destroyed, without inhabitant.

The roaring of the lion and the voice of the fierce lion, And the teeth of the young lions are broken out.The lion perishes for lack of prey, And the cubs of the lioness are scattered.

“ Israel is a scattered flock, the lions have driven them away. The first one who devoured him was the king of Assyria, and this last one who has gnawed his bones is Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.

and say,‘ What was your mother? A lioness among lions! She lay down among young lions, She raised her cubs.When she brought up one of her cubs, He became a young lion, And he learned to tear his prey; He devoured people.Then nations heard about him; He was caught in their trap, And they brought him with hooks To the land of Egypt.When she saw, as she waited, That her hope was lost, She took another of her cubs And made him a young lion.And he walked about among the lions, He became a young lion; He learned to tear his prey; He devoured people.He destroyed their palaces And laid waste their cities; And the land and its fullness were appalled Because of the sound of his roaring.Then nations set against him On every side from their provinces, And they spread their net over him; He was caught in their trap.

“ Behold, one will come up like a lion from the thicket of the Jordan to a perennially watered pasture; for in an instant I will chase them away from it, and I will appoint over it whoever is chosen. For who is like Me, and who will summon Me into court? And who then is the shepherd who can stand against Me?”

Woe to the bloody city, completely full of lies and pillage; Her prey does not leave.

Judah is a lion’s cub; From the prey, my son, you have gone up. He crouches, he lies down as a lion, And as a lion, who dares to stir him up?

For this is what the Lord says to me:“ As the lion or the young lion growls over his prey, Against which a band of shepherds is called out, And he will not be terrified at their voice nor disturbed at their noise, So will the Lord of armies come down to wage war on Mount Zion and on its hill.”

A lion has gone up from his thicket, And a destroyer of nations has set out; He has gone out from his place To make your land a waste. Your cities will be ruins, Without an inhabitant.

Her leaders within her are roaring lions, Her judges are wolves at evening; They have no bones to gnaw in the morning.
