Where now is the lions’ den, the place where they fed their young, where the lion and lioness went, and the cubs, with nothing to fear?

Assyria is like a lion. Where is the lions’ den now? Where did they feed their cubs? Where did all the lions go? In their den they had nothing to fear.

他們吼叫如獅子，像猛獅般咆哮著捕食，將獵物叼走，無人能救。

敵人像獅子般向她咆哮吼叫，使她的土地一片荒涼，她的城邑一片廢墟，杳無人煙。

「以色列人是一群被獅子驅散的羊，先被亞述王吞噬，後被巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒咬碎骨頭。」

說，『你的母親像什麼？她就像獅群中的母獅，臥在雄壯的獅子中養育幼獅。她養大一隻幼獅，使牠成為雄壯的獅子。牠學會了捕食吃人。列國的人知道後，便設陷阱捉住牠，用鉤子拉到埃及。母獅盼著牠回來，眼見指望落空，便又養育一頭幼獅，使牠成為雄壯的獅子。牠出入獅群，學會了捕食和吃人。牠夷平列國的堡壘，使他們的城邑淪為廢墟，遍地都因牠的咆哮而震驚。於是，列國便從四面圍攻牠，設網羅捕捉牠。牠落入他們的陷阱。

「看啊，我必在瞬間把巴比倫人趕離家園，如約旦河邊叢林中跳出的獅子趕散草場的羊群。我要派我揀選的人統治這地方。誰能與我相比？誰能與我較量？哪位首領能抵抗我？」

充滿血腥的尼尼微有禍了！城中充滿詭詐和暴力，害人的事從未止息。

我兒猶大是頭小獅子，他獵食回來，躺臥如雄獅，蹲伏如母獅，誰敢驚擾他？

耶和華又對我說：「猛獅守護獵物，發出咆哮。即使眾多牧人一起攻擊牠，牠也不會因他們的呐喊而懼怕，不會因他們的叫嚷而畏縮。同樣，萬軍之耶和華必降臨在錫安山上爭戰。

毀滅列國者已發起攻擊，如獅子衝出巢穴，要使你們的土地荒涼，城邑淪為廢墟，無人居住。

她的首領是咆哮的獅子，她的審判官是夜間的豺狼，不留一點獵物到天明。
