又問他們說：「你們說我是誰？」彼得回答說：「你是基督。」耶穌就禁戒他們，不要告訴人。從此，他教訓他們說：「人子必須受許多的苦，被長老、祭司長，和文士棄絕，並且被殺，過三天復活。」

從此，耶穌才指示門徒，他必須上耶路撒冷去，受長老、祭司長、文士許多的苦，並且被殺，第三日復活。

約拿三日三夜在大魚肚腹中，人子也要這樣三日三夜在地裏頭。

又對他們說：「照經上所寫的，基督必受害，第三日從死裏復活，

他們行路上耶路撒冷去。耶穌在前頭走，門徒就希奇，跟從的人也害怕。耶穌又叫過十二個門徒來，把自己將要遭遇的事告訴他們說：「看哪，我們上耶路撒冷去，人子將要被交給祭司長和文士，他們要定他死罪，交給外邦人。他們要戲弄他，吐唾沫在他臉上，鞭打他，殺害他。過了三天，他要復活。」

他們離開那地方，經過加利利；耶穌不願意人知道。於是教訓門徒，說：「人子將要被交在人手裏，他們要殺害他；被殺以後，過三天他要復活。」

「大人，我們記得那誘惑人的還活着的時候曾說：『三日後我要復活。』

他不爭競，不喧嚷；街上也沒有人聽見他的聲音。

耶穌對他說：「你切不可告訴人，只要去把身體給祭司察看，獻上摩西所吩咐的禮物，對眾人作證據。」
