從那時起，耶穌開始向門徒指出，他必須往耶路撒冷去，受長老、祭司長和經學家許多的苦害，並且被殺，第三天復活。

約拿怎樣三日三夜在大魚的腹中，人子也要照樣三日三夜在地裡。

他們從那裡出去，經過加利利，耶穌不想讓人知道，因為他正在教導門徒。他又對他們說：“人子將要被交在人的手裡，他們要殺害他，死後三天他要復活。”

“大人，我們想起那個騙子，生前說過：‘三天之後，我要復活。’

他不爭吵，也不喧嚷，人在街上聽不見他的聲音。

耶穌對他說：“你千萬不可告訴別人，只要去給祭司檢查，並且照著摩西所規定的獻上供物，好向大家作證。”
