耶稣郑重叮嘱他们不要把这事张扬出去，又吩咐他们给女孩东西吃。

耶稣又问他们：“那么，你们说我是谁？”彼得回答说：“你是基督！”耶稣吩咐他们不要泄露祂的身份。从此，耶稣便告诉他们，人子必须受许多苦，被长老、祭司长和律法教师弃绝，杀害，但必在三天之后复活。

从此以后，耶稣开始清楚地指示门徒，祂必须去耶路撒冷，受长老、祭司长和律法教师许多的迫害，并且被处死，但第三天必从死里复活。

约拿在大鱼腹中三日三夜，人子也要在地里三日三夜。

又对他们说：“圣经上说，基督必受害，然后在第三天从死里复活，

在前往耶路撒冷的路上，耶稣走在众人前面，门徒感到惊奇，其他跟随的人也很害怕。耶稣把十二个门徒叫到一旁，再把自己将要遭遇的事告诉他们，说：“听着，我们现在前往耶路撒冷，人子将被交在祭司长和律法教师的手中，他们要判祂死刑，把祂交给外族人。他们会嘲弄祂，向祂吐唾沫，鞭打祂，杀害祂。但是，三天之后祂必复活！”

他们离开那里，途经加利利。耶稣不想任何人知道祂的行踪，因为祂在教导门徒。祂说：“人子将被交在人的手中，被他们杀害，但三天之后，祂必复活。”

“总督大人，我们记得那个骗子生前曾说，‘三天之后，我必复活。’

祂不争竞，不喧嚷，街上也听不见祂的声音。

耶稣对他说：“不要把这事告诉别人，要去让祭司察看你的身体，并且照摩西的规定献祭，向众人证明你已经洁净了。”
