但是我告訴你們：所有懷著慾念看女人的，就已經在心裡和她通姦了。如果你的右眼使你絆倒，就把它剜出來丟掉！因為對你來說，失去你身體的一部分，總比你全身被丟進地獄要好。

然而，以前對我有益的事，現在因基督的緣故，我已經把這些事看做是損失。不但如此，我甚至把一切都看做是損失，因為我把認識我主基督耶穌看為是至高無上的。我為基督耶穌損失了一切，而且把一切都看做是糞土，為要贏得基督，

你們當時的福份到哪裡去了呢？我可以給你們做見證：那時如果有可能，你們連自己的眼睛都會挖出來給我！

「那愛父親或母親過於愛我的，不配屬於我；那愛兒子或女兒過於愛我的，不配屬於我；不背起自己的十字架來跟從我的，也不配屬於我。尋得自己生命的，將失去生命；為我的緣故失去自己生命的，將尋得生命。

女人見那棵樹的果實作為食物很好，又悅人眼目，並且因使人有智慧而令人喜愛，就摘下果實吃了，還給了與她在一起的丈夫，她丈夫也吃了。

「如果有人到我這裡來，而不恨自己的父親、母親、妻子、兒女、兄弟、姐妹，甚至自己的生命，他就不能做我的門徒。

求你使我轉眼不看虛妄的事，使我在你的道路上存活。
