“ And if your hand causes you to fall away, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than to have two hands and go to hell, the unquenchable fire.

But I tell you, everyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of the parts of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.

But everything that was a gain to me, I have considered to be a loss because of Christ.More than that, I also consider everything to be a loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. Because of him I have suffered the loss of all things and consider them as dung, so that I may gain Christ

Where, then, is your blessing? For I testify to you that, if possible, you would have torn out your eyes and given them to me.

The one who loves a father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; the one who loves a son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.And whoever doesn’t take up his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.Anyone who finds his life will lose it, and anyone who loses his life because of me will find it.

The woman saw that the tree was good for food and delightful to look at, and that it was desirable for obtaining wisdom. So she took some of its fruit and ate it; she also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.

“ If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters— yes, and even his own life— he cannot be my disciple.
