現在，你們的歡樂在哪裡呢？我可以為你們作證，那時如果可能，你們甚至願意把你們的眼睛剜出來給我哩！

愛父母過於愛我的，不配作屬我的；愛兒女過於愛我的，不配作屬我的；凡不背起自己的十字架來跟從我的，也不配作屬我的。顧惜自己生命的，必要喪掉生命；但為我犧牲生命的，必要得著生命。

於是，女人見那棵樹的果子好作食物，又悅人的眼目，而且討人喜愛，能使人有智慧，就摘下果子來吃了；又給了和她在一起的丈夫，他也吃了。
