耶穌就坐下，叫那十二個人來，對他們說：『人若想要做首先的，他就該做眾人之末後的，做眾人的僕役。』

Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said,“ Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.”

Jesus sat down and called for the 12 disciples to come to him. Then he said,“ Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last. They must be the servant of everyone.”

And he sat down and called the twelve. And he said to them,“ If anyone would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all.”

He sat down, called the twelve disciples over to him, and said,“ Whoever wants to be first must take last place and be the servant of everyone else.”

耶穌把他們叫來，對他們說：『你們知道、外國人有那些自尊為管理他們的、做主治理他們，有他們的大人掌權管轄他們。你們中間可不是這樣：不，你們中間凡想要做大的、就該做你們的僕役；你們中間凡想要為首的、就該做眾人的奴僕。因為人子來，不是要受服事，乃是要服事人，並且將性命獻出，替許多人做贖價。』

耶穌把他叫來、說：『你們知道、外國人的執政者做主治理他們，那些大人們掌權管轄他們。你們中間並不是這樣：不，你們中間凡想要做大的，就該做你們的僕役；你們中間凡想要為首的，就該做你們的奴僕；正如人子來，並不是要受服事，乃是要服事人，並且將性命獻出，替許多人做贖價。』

不，你被請的時候、要去坐末位；這樣，那請你的人來的時候、好對你說：「朋友，請上頭坐吧」。那時你在一同坐席的眾人面前就有光榮了。因為凡自高的必被降卑；自己謙卑的必被升高。』

不，他還賜更大的恩呢；故此經上說：『上帝敵擋狂傲的人，賜恩給謙卑的人』。

但你們呢、不是這樣：你們中間較大的、倒要成為較年少的；為領袖的、倒要成為服事人的。

你們中間較大的必須做你們的僕役。

我告訴你們，這個人下去、到他家裏，比那人倒算為無罪了。因為凡自高的必被降卑，自己謙卑的必被升高。』

傲慢只能啓爭競；接受勸告的乃有智慧。

你為自己圖謀大事麼？不要圖謀；因為你看，永恆主發神諭說，我必使災禍臨到一切血肉之人；但你無論往甚麼地方去，我總要使你掠得你自己的性命。』
