Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said,“ Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.”

Jesus sat down and called for the 12 disciples to come to him. Then he said,“ Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last. They must be the servant of everyone.”

And he sat down and called the twelve. And he said to them,“ If anyone would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all.”

He sat down, called the twelve disciples over to him, and said,“ Whoever wants to be first must take last place and be the servant of everyone else.”

於是耶穌把他們召來，對他們說：「你們知道，外邦人有所謂為首的壓制他們，也有為大的管轄他們。但你們當中卻不是這樣；相反，無論誰想在你們當中為大，誰就該做你們的僕人；無論誰想在你們當中為首，誰就該做大家的奴僕。要知道，就是人子來，也不是為了受人的服事，而是為了服事人，並且獻上自己的生命，替許多人做救贖的代價。」

於是耶穌把他們召來，說：「你們知道，外邦人有首領壓制他們，也有為大的管轄他們。你們當中卻不是這樣；相反，誰想在你們當中為大，誰就該做你們的僕人；無論誰想在你們當中為首，誰就該做你們的奴僕，就像人子來不是為了受人的服事，而是為了服事人，並且獻上自己的生命，替許多人做救贖的代價。」

「你被邀請的時候，要去坐在末位上，好讓邀請你的人一旦來，就會對你說：『朋友，請來上座。』那時候，你就在所有一同坐席的人面前有光彩了。因為每一個自我高舉的都會被降卑；而自我降卑的都會被高舉。」

不過他賜下更大的恩典，所以經上說：「神抵擋驕傲的人，賜恩典給謙卑的人。」

但你們卻不是這樣；相反，你們當中誰更大，誰就該變得像年幼的那樣；領頭的，該像服事人的。

你們當中誰更大，誰就該做你們的僕人，

我告訴你們：下去回家時已經被稱為義的是這個稅吏，而不是那個法利賽人。因為每一個自我高舉的都會被降卑；而自我降卑的都會被高舉。」

狂傲只會帶來紛爭；聽從指教的就有智慧。
