门徒之间起了争论：他们当中到底谁更大。耶稣看出他们心中的意念，就领来一个小孩子，让他站在自己身旁，然后对他们说：“无论谁奉我的名接受这小孩子，就是接受我；接受我的，就是接受差派我来的那一位。要知道，在你们当中谁更小，他才为大。”

那时，门徒们前来问耶稣：“在天国里究竟谁更大？”耶稣叫来一个小孩子，让他站在他们当中，说：“我确实地告诉你们：你们如果不回转，变得像小孩子一样，绝不能进入天国。所以，谁像这小孩子自我降卑，谁在天国里就更大。无论谁奉我的名接受这样一个小孩子，就是接受我。

耶和华啊，你已经洞察我，认识我！我坐下、我起来，你都知道；你从远方就知道我的意念。我行路、我躺卧，你都细察；你熟悉我的一切道路。耶和华啊，我舌头上的话还没有说，看哪，你已经完全知道了！

耶稣第三次问他：“约翰的儿子西门，你喜爱我吗？”彼得感到忧伤，因为耶稣第三次是对他说：“你喜爱我吗？”彼得说：“主啊，你知道一切，你知道我喜爱你。”耶稣对他说：“喂养我的羊。

我要用瘟疫击杀她的儿女，这样各教会就将知道我就是洞察情感和心思的那一位；我也要照着你们的行为回报你们每个人。

他也不需要谁来见证人的事，因为他知道人里面是什么。

并且被造之物在神面前，没有一样不是显明的；万有在他眼前，都是赤裸敞开的；我们都要向他交代。

耶稣灵里立刻知道他们心里这样想，就对他们说：“你们心里为什么想这些事呢？

他们来到迦百农，那些收圣殿税的人来到彼得那里，说：“你们的老师不纳圣殿税吗？”
