They came to Capernaum. When he was in the house, he asked them,“ What were you arguing about on the road?”

After they arrived at Capernaum and settled in a house, Jesus asked his disciples,“ What were you discussing out on the road?”

An argument started among them about who was the greatest of them.But Jesus, knowing their inner thoughts, took a little child and had him stand next to him.He told them,“ Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me. And whoever welcomes me welcomes him who sent me. For whoever is least among you— this one is great.”

At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked,“ So who is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”He called a small child and had him stand among them.“ Truly I tell you,” he said,“ unless you turn and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child— this one is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.And whoever welcomes one child like this in my name welcomes me.

LORD, you have searched me and known me.You know when I sit down and when I stand up; you understand my thoughts from far away.You observe my travels and my rest; you are aware of all my ways.Before a word is on my tongue, you know all about it, LORD.

He asked him the third time,“ Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was grieved that he asked him the third time,“ Do you love me?” He said,“ Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.”“ Feed my sheep,” Jesus said.

I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am the one who examines minds and hearts, and I will give to each of you according to your works.

and because he did not need anyone to testify about man; for he himself knew what was in man.

No creature is hidden from him, but all things are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give an account.

Right away Jesus perceived in his spirit that they were thinking like this within themselves and said to them,“ Why are you thinking these things in your hearts?

When they came to Capernaum, those who collected the temple tax approached Peter and said,“ Doesn’t your teacher pay the temple tax?”
