從那時耶穌便開始指示門徒：他必須往耶路撒冷去，從長老祭司長和經學士手下受許多苦，並且被殺，第三天就得甦活起來。

『看吧，我們上耶路撒冷去，人子必被送交給祭司長和經學士；他們必定他死罪，把他送交給外國人，去戲弄、鞭打、並釘十字架；第三天他就必得甦活起來。』

耶穌對他們說：『「以利亞先來、復興萬事！」那麼那指着人子、說他該受許多苦、並被藐視、是怎麼記載的呢？

便開始教訓他們說：『人子必須受許多苦，被長老祭司長和經學士棄掉，並且被殺，三天以後就復起。』

耶穌又對他們說：『我這些話、我從前還和你們同在時所對你們講的話、就是：凡摩西《律法書》和《神言人的書》跟《詩篇》上所記的關於我的話、都必須得應驗。』於是耶穌敞開他們的心竅，使他們能曉悟經典。又對他們說：『有這樣記着說；基督必須受害，第三天從死人中復起；

基督受這些苦，而進入他的榮耀，豈不是應該的麼？』

『你們知道、過兩天就逾越節了；人子將要被解送去釘十字架了。』

園工看見了兒子，卻彼此說：「這是承繼產業的；來吧，我們殺他，佔有他的產業。」於是拿住了他，丟出葡萄園外去，殺了。

耶穌帶着那十二個人到一邊，對他們說：『看吧，我們上耶路撒冷，凡藉着神言人所寫的事都必完成在人子身上。他必被送交給外國人，必被戲弄，被凌辱，被吐唾沫。他們必鞭打他，殺害他；第三天他就必復起。』

正如人子來，並不是要受服事，乃是要服事人，並且將性命獻出，替許多人做贖價。』

這個人、按着上帝所立定的計畫和豫知被送官，你們藉着不法之人的手給釘上，殺掉了。對於他、上帝卻解去了死亡之慘痛，使他復起，因為他被死握住是不可能的。

沒有誰奪取它，是我自己放棄的。我有權力放棄，也有權力再取回來：這個命令、我從我父領受了。』

『摩西怎樣在野地裏高舉了蛇，人子也必須怎樣被高舉，

希律和本丟彼拉多、同外國人和以色列眾族之民、真地在這城裏聚集，攻打你所膏立的聖僕耶穌，要作你手和你計畫所豫定必成的一切事。

『人子將要被送交在人手裏：你們要把這些話聽進耳中。』

耶穌回答他們說：『你們毁壞這殿堂，我三天以內必使它復起。』

我們若堅忍到底，也必和他同掌王權；我們若否認他，他也必否認我們；
