從那時起，耶穌開始向門徒指出，他必須往耶路撒冷去，受長老、祭司長和經學家許多的苦害，並且被殺，第三天復活。

“我們現在上耶路撒冷去，人子要被交給祭司長和經學家，他們要定他死罪，把他交給外族人凌辱、鞭打，並且釘在十字架上。然而第三天他要復活。”

耶穌說：“以利亞固然要先來復興一切，但聖經為甚麼又記載人子要受許多苦，被人藐視呢？

於是他教導他們，人子必須受許多苦，被長老、祭司長和經學家棄絕、殺害，三天後復活。

主對他們說：“這就是我從前與你們同在的時候，對你們說過的話：摩西的律法、先知書和詩篇上所記關於我的一切事，都必定應驗。”於是他開他們的心竅，使他們明白聖經；又說：“經上這樣記著：基督必須受害，第三天從死人中復活。

基督這樣受害，然後進入他的榮耀，不是應當的嗎？”

“你們知道兩天之後就是逾越節，人子將要被交給人，釘在十字架上。”

佃戶看見他的兒子，就彼此說：‘這是繼承產業的；來，我們殺了他，佔有他的產業吧！’於是他們抓住他，把他推出葡萄園外殺了。

耶穌把十二門徒帶到一邊，對他們說：“我們現在上耶路撒冷去，先知所寫的一切，都要成就在人子身上。他要被交給外族人，受戲弄，被凌辱，他們要向他吐唾沫，鞭打他，殺害他；第三日他要復活。”

正如人子來，不是要受人的服事，而是要服事人，並且要捨命，作許多人的贖價。”

他照著神的定旨和預知被交了出去，你們就藉不法之徒的手，把他釘死了。神卻把死的痛苦解除，使他復活了，因為他不能被死亡拘禁。

沒有人能奪去我的生命，是我自己捨去的。我有權把生命捨去，也有權把它取回來；這是我從我的父所領受的命令。”

摩西在曠野怎樣把銅蛇舉起，人子也必照樣被舉起來，

希律和本丟．彼拉多，外族人和以色列民，真的在這城裡聚集，反對你所膏立的聖僕耶穌，行了你手和你旨意所預定要成就的一切。

“你們要把這些話存在心裡：人子將要被交在人的手裡。”

耶穌回答：“你們拆毀這殿，我三天之內要把它建造起來。”

我們若能堅忍，就必與他一同作王；我們若不認他，他必不認我們；
