耶稣责备他说：“不要作声，从这人身上出来吧！”鬼把那人摔倒在众人中间，就出来了，却也没有害他。

是因耶稣曾吩咐污鬼从那人身上出来。原来这鬼屡次抓住他；他常被人看守，又被铁链和脚镣捆锁，他竟把锁链挣断，被鬼赶到旷野去。

你们是出于你们的父魔鬼，你们父的私欲你们偏要行。他从起初是杀人的，不守真理，因他心里没有真理。他说谎是出于自己；因他本来是说谎的，也是说谎之人的父。

正来的时候，鬼把他摔倒，叫他重重地抽风。耶稣就斥责那污鬼，把孩子治好了，交给他父亲。

无论在哪里，鬼捉弄他，把他摔倒，他就口中流沫，咬牙切齿，身体枯干。我请过你的门徒把鬼赶出去，他们却是不能。”

务要谨守，警醒。因为你们的仇敌魔鬼，如同吼叫的狮子，遍地游行，寻找可吞吃的人。

那鬼喊叫，使孩子大大地抽了一阵风，就出来了。孩子好像死了一般，以致众人多半说：“他是死了。”

那人常住在坟茔里，没有人能捆住他，就是用铁链也不能；因为人屡次用脚镣和铁链捆锁他，铁链竟被他挣断了，脚镣也被他弄碎了；总没有人能制伏他。他昼夜常在坟茔里和山中喊叫，又用石头砍自己。

耶和华对撒但说：“他在你手中，只要存留他的性命。”于是撒但从耶和华面前退去，击打约伯，使他从脚掌到头顶长毒疮。约伯就坐在炉灰中，拿瓦片刮身体。
